Fall TV Press Tour: Rescue Me, Damages and More

• Michael J. Fox has signed on to a four-episode arc on Rescue Me. Starting with the season premiere this spring, he'll play Janet's wheelchair-assisted new boyfriend.

• Marcia Gay Harden will face off with Glenn Close on Damages as an attorney for a shadowy, high-powered corporation. As previously announced, Timothy Olyphant and William Hurt, Close's Big Chill cohort, will be series regulars this season. "It's part of our molecules," Close said of her and Hurt's shared experience on the iconic boomer flick. And! Ted Danson will return for an unspecified number of episodes as Arthur Frobisher. Medical update: Producer Daniel Zelman says Arthur's "not terribly healthy at the moment, but he is alive."

• Drea De Matteo (Christufuh!), who appears in the pilot for FX's new biker drama Sons of Anarchy, has already signed on for two additional episodes.

• The network has green-lit an amazing 39 more episodes of sleeper sitcom It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia. That's in addition to the 13 that are already in production now and the 32 that have already aired.

• Look for 13 episodes of a comedy called Testees (two e's, people!) from Kenny Hotz, creator of Kenny and Spenny and a former South Park writer. Its protagonists make their living as medical test subjects, hence the suggestive series title. — Mickey O'Connor

Actually, I can't wait till new episodes of Always Sunny air! I think it's one of the funniest shows on tv, right up there with Arrested Development. Why isn't there any mention of The Riches? Has it been cancelled?

Wow!!! Congrats to the crazy kids of Sunny. One of the funniest shows on TV, if not the funniest right now simply because they can make the craziest, most insane things absolutely hilarious. I'd love for it to get some awards love too like all the other cablers out there.

I think that's great for Michael J. Fox. Good to see that he is coming back to TV.

It's always Sunny is pretty funny. I think it's different from most shows out there. 39 new eps is a BIG commitment though.

Everyone but Maria knows what they are talking about here!

Sunny is great, but I do worry that 39 episode commitment could affect the quality of the show.

I'm glad somebody mentioned Titus. I miss that show so much. I have the DVDs but still wish there were new episodes.

I agree with everyone else (well, almost everyone else) -- I can't wait for It's Always Sunny.

It's one of the best sitcoms currently in production.

One of my favorite short-lived shows was an MTV sitcom of the late '90s called Austin Stories. It's Always Sunny is very reminiscent of that show -- and, thankfully, more enduring.

"Testees...Its protagonists make their living as medical test subjects..."

That show sounds like a ball! ;)

It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia is so great...really happy to hear this news. Remember when it premiered with that show about the support group for people with eating disorders and that show was the one getting all the hype and publicity? Who'd have thought Sunny would still be here and that other show would have gone away so quickly and quietly? Well I did, after watching one episode of each.

What the hell is Damages budget that they can put together such a cast? Can't wait for it's return!

I'm a little down on Rescue Me after last season. I hope Fox coming on will help bring it back to it's former self.

UGH! Now THAT was a real groaner...
LOL!

I hope it doesn't get the 'sack' too early. It looks like it could be real 'nutty' show. ;)

"Its Always Sunny" is the funniest show on television. It is like "Cheers" where the gang are all just evil bastards.

Fantastic news. The brass at F/X have always loved this show and this news is excellent.

For anyone who hasn't seen this show, buy the DVDs!! Danny DeVito has created one of the funniest and most evil s.o.b's he has ever played on this show. The best guest appearances are by Stephen Collins from "7th Heaven" as Dennis and Dee's father. Putting him in the middle of this show is funny enough.
