Fall TV Press Tour: Nip/Tuck Canceled
Nip/Tuck by Michael Becker/FX
FX is pulling the plug on the critically acclaimed drama Nip/Tuck.
But don't panic. There are still quite a few hours of surgery and self-esteem left to air. Eight new episodes — the remainder of the strike-interrupted Season 5 — will hit the air in January 2009. Then, a final, 19-episode sixth season will wrap up the series in early 2011.
John Landgraf, the netlet's president and general manager, announced that series creator Ryan Murphy will remain on board as Nip/Tuck's showrunner through the final episodes. — Mickey O'Connor

At least they got plenty of advance notice about the cancellation and will have the chance to give N/T viewers a satisfying end to the series.
I hate when shows get cancelled abruptly and all viewers get is a 'season' finale that leaves them hanging instead of a proper 'series' finale that gives viewers some closure... or not... [Rachel waving at Sopranos writers]

When I saw this headline, I was like oh no not another abrupt end to one of my favorite shows, but since it's not ending until 2011 that will give me more than enough time to see more of Christian and his down and dirty antics and some of the craziest patients ever to appear on a tv show. If only Men In Trees and Girlfriends would have gotten a proper finale instead of the disrespectful way they were both yanked off the air.

I thought it was rather bizarre that they didn't end the series with that flash-forward episode when Julia originally left the show to care for her ailing daughter. They flashed forward to show the kids grown up with Matt having become a surgeon and Annie having become an older brat.
Instead they came back and moved the practice to L.A.

I was hoping that the flash forward was a bad dream!!! I didn't really care for the Connor episode. I guess I'll wait and see what happens

FX better be on the lookout for more shows, or they will be like HBO...The Shield will be over this year, now Nip/Tuck....Wow!! but they did rebuild themselves after they lost Son of The Beach so I guess they may survive.

As long as Katee Sackhoff is in many of the final episodes, this is no problem.

Here's hoping what's left of the show is better than what we've seen since The Carver.

Honestly, I do not know what to make of this. While I have always been a fan of this show, I have been disappointed and sad to see the slow and horrible decline of this show the past three seasons. So on one hand, I did not really care that it was being canceled. But a small part of me was still glad to see that it is coming back for at least a few more episodes in the near future.
I (like so many other fans), long for the days of creative, insightful, dark, and well written story lines again. This truly was a unique and special show its first two seasons. Sadly, it has turned into nothing but mundane, outrageous, and poorly thought out plot lines, characters, and stories. They have been repeating the same exact story for three or four years now, and it is more than time to move on. This truly was a great show and commentary on the selfishness, superficiality, sadness, pettiness, and desperation that truly lies within each us. Then it turned into nothing but an outrageous circus of crazy characters and stories.
If and when they do come back in 2011 (which I find a very long time to wait to wrap up a series) I hope they have spent the next two years thinking and returning to what made this series so fascinating and amazing. If they come back with the same old Julia + Sean + Christian plotlines, then they may as well just shut down production now. So a small part of me is clinging onto the tiniest bit of hope for a return to greatness. But until then, I can only wait and see what happens.

THANK YOU FOR TAKING THE SHOW OFF THE AIR!!!! I can not believe that it lasted this long. I feel that you have crossed the line in everyshow!!!! And the story lines please, that really dose not happen in everyday life. And if that is what you call sex it looks more like rape and I had to explain to my daughter who was 18 that that is not sex but words can not desribe what I feel and had to tell my daughter. Praise God that you will not be able to show trash!!!

jen1983, it's cable - it's all about crossing the line and pushing boundaries. Why are you letting your young daughter watch this cable show? It is not a show for children. Doesn't mean it's trash.
Whilst I am a fan of the show, as others have said it has declined in the past few years. It's done it's time and it seems they're giving it a decent ending and letting it run it's course as opposed to abruptly dumping it. I'm happy with that.
