Fall TV Press Tour: More American Teenager, Greek

The Secret Life of the American Teenager by Michael Ansell/ABC Family

Paul Lee, president of ABC Family, announced Thursday that he had ordered up 13 more episodes of The Secret Life of the American Teenager.

The breakout teen-pregnancy hit — it's like Juno on TV with Molly Ringwald as the mom — was created and is executive-produced by Brenda Hampton (7th Heaven). The show debuted on July 1, breaking a record for the netlet as its most-watched original series premiere. Secret Life will run on Tuesday nights through September; 12 of the 13 added eps, technically the second half of the first season, will air beginning in January 2009.

In other ABC Family good news, Greek will return on August 26. — Mickey O'Connor

Should I be worried that TSLofAT was picked up and not The Middle Man?

If they (ABC Family/Disney) announce any information about The Middle Man, it will probably be at the Comic Con in San Diego next week.

Why is this show always being compared to Juno. The only thing it has in common is a teen pregnancy, other than that they are completely different. Different tone, different cast, different point, everything. It's a stupid comparison.

Middleman will probably be cancelled. It only brought in 500,000 viewers for it's series premiere. Thats pretty bad compared to all of it's other series premieres. Plus Wildfire wasnt picked up when it had 900,000 viewers +.

The Middleman is the best new summer show. No announcement about its fate is a bad bad sign. Hopefully somebody realizes that this is a better product than American Teenager and it can be saved.
