Kim Delaney's Army Wife is getting a visit from Mom — and neither lady will be welcomed with "Happy to See Me."

For a pair of episodes of the hit Lifetime drama, four-time Oscar nominee Marsha Mason has been enlisted to fill the plum role of Charlotte Meade, Claudia Joy's upper-crust and always-distant mother who shows up in South Carolina expectedly — and harboring a somewhat urgent, unsaid agenda. (Um, anyone else here take Reading Between the Lines 101? I audited the class myself.)

Mason's episodes will air in mid-August. — Matt Mitovich

If I'm not mistaken, Army Wives is set in South Carolina...not North Carolina.

I hate to be nitpicky, but the caption on the front page regarding this story says "Who's mom pays a visit?" I believe you meant whose mom instead of the contraction who's (who is). Just the grammar monster in me.

My guess for the agenda? Mom needs a transplant.

Thanks for the info Matt. I love this show, haven't seen Marsha Mason in quite a while and I look forward to her role. In addition Matt, just want you to know I enjoy your columns. (LOL at the grammar monster quote). :-D

Love the show, love Claudia Joy. Not sure what you meant by read between the lines, afterall they just killed off Claudia's daughter and Claudia Joy certainly looks young enough to have another kid....just a thought

Army Wives is a fantastic show. I don't know if Claudia Joy can take any more bad news after losing her daughter.

I've recently be enjoying her again on reruns of Frazier. Her stint as Martin's girlfriend was very funny. I can't wait to see how she mixes things up.

No Army wives blog, but you'll notice the list still includes shows that are cancelled or haven't been updated in a year. Who is responsible for cleaning the watercooler list anyway?X-(

I love this show--it pulls no punches. I also love Marsha Mason and will be glued to the set for those shows. Lifetime keep up the good work--this is a show that my 22 year old daughter watches with her 50 year old mom and we have no ties with the army just with being women. It is very interesting to see how these army women survive worrying about their men--didn't expect to see the daughter killed off though.
