ET Host and Mario Lopez Join Price Is Right Possibilities

Break out the high-test bronzer, George Hamilton, because you've got new competition. On the heels of talk that Hamilton had the inside line on succeeding Bob Barker as host of The Price Is Right comes reportage that Entertainment Tonight cohost Mark Steines and Saved by the Bell's Mario Lopez are now in the mix. Audition tapes of all the top contenders — including John O'Hurley (what's with all the Dancing with the Stars dropouts?) and former Beauty and the Geek host Mike Richards — are being shown to test audiences around the country. The wannabe who comes closest to meeting expectations without going over wins.

Isn't Todd Newton in the mix of possibilities, also? I thought I saw that on CNN.

George Hamilton? Mario Lopez? John O'Hurley? Maybe Joey Fatone or apolo Anton Ohno will be considered once this season of DwtS ends!

Has anyone actually watched these guys host anything? I know I've seen Hamitlon as a host on Miss America, Lopez as host of ESPN-Hollywood and Pet Star and O'Hurley as host of Family Feud and they were all pretty dreadful. I don't find any of them to be natural at all.

It's going to be really difficult to replace Bob Barker that's for sure.

I never use to watch Family Feud until John O'Hurley started hosting. I think he's a terrific host! He was also really good on "To Tell The Truth." He'd be my pick! He's be great & charismatic!

Mike Richards? TBTG host sucked. It was dreadful enough to see him once a week let alone five times a week.

Mario Lopez? Unless he'll be hosting shirtless or sleeveless, I think the host should be a little bit more mature.

John did a good job on "To Tell The Truth."

I think they should have each candidate host a week of shows. Viewers can select who they like best. This info will go to the producers/judges who will make the ultimate selection.

Don't the Barker's Beauties rotate? They aren't the same core that it used to be with Janice, Dian, and the other one. I guess this wouldn't work with a host.

Why not have a female host and male models?

I forgot Mark. He does fine on ET, but I'd have to see him Plinko before I can make a final decision.

Setting loose the Plink-O chip is not for the light-of-heart.

Thats a good idea Maurine, the viewers should choose on who they want to see as the new host.

And I wouldnt mind having male shirtless models.:-x

I think Mario Lopez would be a great choice! Nobody can ever replace Bob Barker. But I think they'd be better off with a young, personable, fun, attractive, upbeat host who is popular and not a game show host. George Hamilton? Are you kidding me?

Exactly!!! It's discrimination. Shirtless male models need to work too!

I think they would get more people watching if they involved the audience in the casting process. I might even check it out. I don't think the public should end up with the final decision lest we get Sanjaya as a host, but it would give those with the final decision an idea of who the public likes.

CBS, call me and I'll flesh ;) out my idea more!

I don't think the public should end up with the final decision lest we get Sanjaya as a host...

No... that would be a nightmare! (Although, I wouldn't mind his sister as one of the beauties.)

Personally, while no one can replace Bob Barker as the host of TPIR, I can see John O'Hurley (or even his predecessor on Family Feud, Richard Karn) as a good host. Besides, can you see Mario Lopez dropping the Plinko chip?

(Although, it would be funny to see every female contestant try to make out with him as they go on stage...)

Maybe they should be looking at sportscasters or newscasters. Do you really think a celebrity has what it takes to do The Price Is Right?

Todd Newton would be a great host, I used to watch Hollywood Showdown he has a wonderful personality for a talk-show host, I think he would be perfect to replace Bob Barker, George Hamilton, I don't think he has the right personality, Mario Lopez is to young... Mark Steines would be my second choice,

Mario Lopez?! Ewwww. He skeeves me out - arrogant, slimy kind of fellow. I love PIR - please don't do this to me!

The only one I've heard of that I like is the guy from ET.
