Esai Morales Cast on Caprica — as Adama's Father - Today's News: Our Take

On the heels of the news that Deadwood's Paula Malcolmson had landed the female lead in Sci Fi Channel's Battlestar Galactica prequel movie/backdoor pilot, Esai Morales has joined the Caprica cast in the role of Joseph, a "deeply passionate man with a strong sense of justice — and someone you wouldn't want as your enemy," says the Reporter. Oh, and Joe's last name is Adama, as in the father of one day Galactica commander William.

Morales most recently had a run on Jericho (ah, Jericho…), but I'll always remember him from Bad Boys (the 1983 one).

What's your take? A pretty good familial match, eh? — MWM

Esai coming to Caprica is welcome news. He did a great job on the short season of Jericho. His acting has always been great, even going back to "La Bamba", in which he played Ritchie Valens brother.

Were the BSG PTBs thinking about this when they introduced the character - well, his writings - in the third season during Gaius's trial?

Don't take this as any comment on the casting other than that I have to laugh about this: "My Family/Mi Familia" -- Morales plays EJO's brother (don't think they shared any scenes). "American Family" -- Esai Morales plays Edward James Olmos's son. "Caprica" -- Morales plays EJO's father.

To me, Esai will always be the Captain on NYPD Blue (boy, do I miss that show!). Doesn't matter what role he plays..........HE'S HOT!

Two roles cast, two great actors. Great Start! Joseph Adama is going to be a very big role. This is good news. Just caught the Polly Walker comment. That would be so fantastic. This script must be pretty damn good.

Caprica claudiak! is one of the planets that makes up the 12 colonies that was home to the human race in both the original and new BSG.

that is good news. He is a good actor, I loved him on Jericho (I miss that show, BOO! CBS) he will make a great addition to Caprica which should be a great show.
