If ER Stays Open, Sopranos Star Among New Patients

NBC and Warner Bros. TV are reportedly close to a deal that would reduce ER's license fees enough to keep the show going for a 15th season. In fact, says the Reporter, Hollywood agents have been told that the show plans to shoot four episodes for the fall immediately upon completing the original post-strike order for six.

Already, two recurring roles that would debut this spring and run into Season 15 are being filled: The Sopranos' Aida Turturro has been cast as a car-accident victim, while Aussie hunk David Lyons is in talks to play (all together now) a doctor lacking a conscience.

Well, I for one am thrilled to hear such encouraging news. And while I'm sure many are wondering why this particular equine has not been put out to pasture (or it's misery, for the true haters), it's the only medical show worth watching. I've tried to get into GA, but I just can't get into it's narcissistic characters or their revolving door love lives. Are we supposed to like the main character, who hates McWhatever one minute, and sleeps with him the next? Not my cup o' meat, I guess.

I'm definitely ready to see another "ER" season! I actually feel it has improved with age. The only downside is that Maura Tierney will no longer be a regular. And let's face it, she emerged as the true star of the show, and has been its heart & soul for several years (and the current ensemble cast is great, and has weathered way too much nasty criticism). I hear she may return as a guest, but it won't be the same without Abby.

I too am glad to hear that ER may be back! I also agree that it has gotten better with age. I have watched the show from day one, and even watch it in syndication! LOVE THIS SHOW!!!!!

Yay!

I was all-but-certain that ER was the butt of Ausiello's latest blind-item joke — all of the clues fit perfectly — but I am more glad than anyone at the prospect of yet another season of this wonderful show.

I won't agree with those who think that the show has grown better over these last years; true Giants almost too numerous to mention used to walk these hallowed medical halls, but even in it's fall from absolute grace, ER is still a better drama than the lion's share of what's left.

I can only hope that the writers look to the long-ago glory days and begin to rebuild a staff that I want to see practice medicine. The absence of Abby and Luka in the coming new season will be tough to overcome, but running over Morris with a train (then backing it over him, then repeating many, many times, hopefully whilst hand-in-hand with Harold) and bringing back old-fashioned doctors in the mold of Greene and Carter would be a wonderful shot in the arm.

If this show can emulate the recent and welcome resurgence of Law & Order by returning to the formula that works (read: NO MORE CLOWNS!), I honestly believe that ER can join its legal counterpart in giving the venerable Gunsmoke a run for its money.

I have loved ER since the day that we first stepped inside. However the time has come for the doors to close on the Emergency Department. All of the great actors are leaving and the storie lines have been weak for the last couple of seasons. I wont miss an episode until its over but it is time to go!!!
