Fresh from Fox:

Ryan Seacrest will host the 59th Primetime Emmy Awards airing live from the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles Sunday, Sept. 16, on Fox.

"Ryan Seacrest appeals to a broad audience, including the highly desirable young-adult demographic," adds Dick Askin, Chairman and CEO of the Television Academy. Adds Ken Ehrlich, executive producer of the Emmycast: "This year's show will be different in a number of ways; the freshness, enthusiasm and professionalism that Ryan brings to everything he does will be a perfect match for some of the innovative things we have planned. I’ve watched Ryan’s growth on live events with great delight, and we’re going to have a great time with him on the Emmys."

Seacrest just days ago was dubbed the host of Fox's Super Bowl 2008 pre-show and halftime coverage.

POLL: What do you think of Ryan being named Emmys host? Vote here.

No, no, no. Does this mean, instead of tv-related jokes, we'll get awkward homosexual banter? Again I say: no.

I was hoping for Cat Deeley. She would have done a better job. I guess I'll give him a chance though.

Noooooooo! Come on people! He's not at that level. He's still at the holding a microphone on the red carpet level. He must have blackmail pictures of everyone in Hollywood.

So I guess this will be the first time (in I have no idea how long) I don't watch the Emmy's.

Ugh. I can't imagine one single person whom I would want to watch less. What could he possibly do for a monologue?

Oh come on! Stop all the Ryan bashing. I like him. He's funny and cute and does a good job. I'll be watching.

It's not that Ryan Seacrest is so bad...but it's just going to be SUCH a huge letdown after the amazingness that was Conan last year!

All I can say is ugh! That no talent hack is all over my tv and radio enough - what's he going to do bicker wiht people in the audience and make offensive gay jokes? There wasn't anybody else the Emmy's could get for this? I guess that will make me tune "out"
