Emmys 2008: Supporting Actor Winner Terry O'Quinn MIA from this Year's Race

Last year he won for Lost, but this time around he's on the sidelines with the others. GoldDerby.com's unofficial list of Primetime Emmy semi-finalists in the Supporting Actor in a Drama Series race has 2007 winner Terry O'Quinn nowhere to be found. Here are the 11 (versus 10, indicating a close vote count) fellas hoping to be announced as a nominee come July 17; also check out the semifinalists for lead comedy actress (Housewife snubbed!) and supporting drama actress (Mrs. Coach Taylor is dissed!).

Naveen Andrews, Lost
Bruce Dern, Big Love
Christian Clemenson, Boston Legal
Ted Danson, Damages
Michael Emerson, Lost
Zeljko Ivanek, Damages
T.R. Knight, Grey's Anatomy
William Shatner, Boston Legal
John Slattery, Mad Men
Blair Underwood, In Treatment
Jake Weber, Medium

Naveen in "The Economist"? Danson? Emerson? Ivanek? Underwood? Glad I'm not on the judging panel. — Matt Mitovich

Usually I'm on the fence between a couple nominees. Not this time. Michael Emerson all the way. He conveys more in one look than most actors can in a whole page of dialog.

Jake Weber! He always does such a good job on Medium.

Very disappointed that Robert Sean Leonard is not on the list. He always does great work on House. I would of picked him over William Shatner and TR Knight any day.

Amen, I still can't believe he didn't make the semifinalists this year. He'd have been a strong top 5 contender in my book.

Damn, I was hoping to see somebody from The Wire finally break through. I mean come on. The Wire can't get a single guy through, yet Boston Legal gets two finalists.

[SPOILER FOR PEOPLE WHO HAVE NOT SEEN DAMAGES]

Give it to Zeljko Ivanek. He did amazing work, putting himself out there as way more than a foil to Glenn Close, and due to his character's suicide, he can't get it next year. I love Michael Emmerson's portrayal of Ben, but they've got two seasons left to award him for that.

As much as I love Naveen and TR Knight, they didnt do much this year to get a nomination. Naveen chould have gotten one for all the other seasons though. So i would happy if he won. I would have to say Emerson hands down though. I like Jake Weber too. TR Knight really? i hated his character this season. He deserved one last season, or the season before. But no one deserves it more than Emerson.

Keeping in mind that Shows/actors submit one episode for emmy consideration it is unsurprising that Terry O'Quinn is not nominated. Although his work continued to be solid he didn't have an emmy reel episode this year. Emerson and Ivanek are both must haves as far as I'm concerned.

Naveen Andrews has always done an outstanding job on Lost. He doesn't have one of the "shazaam" characters that has a wild twist every week, but he has always been one of the most compelling characters on the show. He deserves an award.

Ted Danson did okay. Award worthy? Maybe, but I would have many other choices before him.

Michael Emerson should just be given an annual Emmy without category. Why bother with competition?

Zeljko Ivanek did a really good job with his pretty complicated character. Good choice for a nominee.

T.R. Knight... really? Why?

William Shatner should be banned from acting.

Jake Weber does a good job with what he's given. I don't know if Medium is award-worthy either way though.

The others I can't comment on.

I can ask where the frakkin' BSG nominees are. Where is James Callis? Michael Hogan? Aaron Douglas? There are plenty of other great actors on the show as well, but it's one of those shows that the Emmy people probably won't even watch (I own a season 2 Emmy submission tape from Buffy, unopened. Never given the time of day) which once again proves that the awards are a sham.
Either you give all of the submissions an equal chance, or you shouldn't have an award.

Blair Underwood deserves an honorable mention for his work on In Treatment, Alex was my second favorite patient after Sophie (who also deserves a nomination in my book)...

But my winner is Michael Emerson hands down. He took a character who could have become distinctly one-note and infused him with an emotional depth and complexity that few actors could have pulled of. He is absolutely 100% worthy and deserving. Go Ben/Michael E!

Either Lost guy or either Damages guy would be fine.
