Griffin and Silverman Are Effin' Emmy Winners
Sarah Silverman by Rhet Bear/Comedy Central; Kathy Griffin by Mike Ruiz/Bravo
A pair of funny ladies stole the show Saturday at the Creative Arts Emmys Saturday night.
Kathy Griffin took home her second Emmy, earning the best reality program trophy for Bravo's My Life on the D-List. According to People, Griffin didn’t tell Jesus or anyone else to "suck it" in her acceptance speech (as she infamously did in 2007), but it was still bleepable: "Here we go again, f----rs."
The other bleep-worthy moment of the night was Sarah Silverman's two wins for her viral video smash, "I'm F---ing Matt Damon," a clip that aired on Jimmy Kimmel Live and suggested Silverman was cheating on then-boyfriend Kimmel with the Bourne Identity star. The video took home the award for best original music and lyrics and a picture-editing award.
Though Silverman and Kimmel split after five years together in July, Silverman thanked him in her speech. "Let's be honest, Matt Damon had very little to do with this being popular," she said. "Thanks to the person for whom this whole video was made: Jimmy Kimmel, who broke my heart – ohh, who'll always have a place in my heart."
Other winners at the event were Cynthia Nixon for her guest role as a psychopath on Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, Kathryn Joosten for playing Desperate Housewives' Mrs. McCluskey (she also won the award in 2005), Glynn Turman for In Treatment and Tim Conway for his guest work on 30 Rock.
HBO's John Adams claimed the most awards of the night with eight wins, including best costumes for a miniseries, movie or special. Mad Men took home four statues, including best cinematography, and The Simpsons earned its 10th Emmy for best animated half-hour series.
The Creative Arts Emmys will air Saturday, Sept. 20 at 8 pm/ET on E! as the lead-up to the live prime-time gala, which airs the following night on ABC. — Adam Bryant

"Matt is glad to live in a world where "****ing Matt Damon" can win a person an Emmy."
Truly a glorious day.

No, what would have been a truly glorious day was if Bret and Jemaine, songwriters with actual talent, had won for "The Most Beautiful Girl in the Room," a song that is actually funny.

Shouldn't you be saying, "...where ****ing Matt Webb Mitovich can win a person an Emmy"? Then just keep nudging your laptop under your wife's nose.
Oops, didn't really mean for that to be a double-entendre, but I guess it was!
I'm really glad Sarah paid respect to Jimmy, because I still feel bad that they aren't together anymore.
Very happy to see Sarah and Kathy both win deserved awards, as two of the funniest women in the biz we call show. (Well, Paul Shaffer calls it that, anyway.)

Glad to see John Adams did so well and I hope that carries over to the Primetime Emmys. It showed just how good miniseries can be and makes one wonder why there aren't more of them.

Matt has a facebook? Bwahahahahahahahaha!!!
Seriously, though, I'm glad that Kathy and Sarah both won. Although, it's too bad that Kathy's Dad had to die for that Emmy. ... Kidding!

OK, so Joosten/comedy; Nixon/drama, Conway/comedy; who won Guest Actor in a Drama?
The home page said "Get all the Creative Emmy results." So where's the link to that?

Does anyone outside of Hollywood and entertainment "journalism" really give a rat's about these Hollywood awards?
If so, how pathetic is that?
They're entirely political and the crop from which winners are chosen is so rarified that real talent is not required.

msspurlock, if it's so pathetic, what are you doing here?
Is this the only place where you think your little superiority complex will play? Guess again.

I love Griffin and Silverman...I really wish they hadn't relegated these awards to the D-list show, though I guess it's appropriate for Kathy! It woul dhave been fun to see them both accept their awrads on the regular broadcast.

TVGord, Glen Turman was once married to Aretha Franklin, and was a star on A Different World back in the 90's. He played the ROTC/math professor... (I think). Been on a lot of stuff....
