Emmy Nominations: 24 Is Loved, Lost Snubbed

The nominees for the 58th Annual Primetime Emmy awards were announced Thursday morning, and Fox's 24 led the pack with 12 nods, including outstanding drama series, while NBC's Will & Grace exited on a high note with 10 noms, the most of any sitcom alive or dead. Among the notable snubs: Lost's major players got overlooked, Veronica Mars' Kristen Bell was slighted again, and Alfre Woodard was the only Desperate housewife to get a nom. (Consolation for shouldering a C story?) Also: Where is Hugh Laurie? Jason Lee? Any of Steve Carell's Office mates? Great new voting system there. But I digress. Here's a sample:

Outstanding Drama Series: Grey's Anatomy, House, The Sopranos, 24 and The West Wing
Outstanding Comedy Series: Arrested Development, Curb Your Enthusiasm, The Office, Scrubs and Two and a Half Men

Lead Actress/Drama: Frances Conroy (Six Feet Under), Geena Davis (Commander in Chief), Mariska Hargitay (Law & Order: SVU), Allison Janney (The West Wing) and Kyra Sedgwick (The Closer)
Lead Actor/Drama: Peter Krause (Six Feet Under), Denis Leary (Rescue Me), Christopher Meloni (Law & Order: SVU), Martin Sheen (The West Wing) and Kiefer Sutherland (24)

Lead Actress/Comedy: Stockard Channing (Out of Practice), Jane Kaczmarek (Malcolm in the Middle), Lisa Kudrow (The Comeback), Debra Messing (Will & Grace) and Julia Louis-Dreyfus (The New Adventures of Old Christine)
Lead Actor/Comedy: Steve Carell (The Office), Larry David (Curb), Kevin James (King of Queens), Tony Shalhoub (Monk) and Charlie Sheen (Two and a Half Men)

Supporting Actress/Drama: Candice Bergen (Boston Legal), Sandra Oh (Grey's Anatomy), Chandra Wilson (Grey's Anatomy), Blythe Danner (Huff) and Jean Smart (24)
Supporting Actor/Drama: William Shatner (Boston), Oliver Platt (Huff), Michael Imperioli (The Sopranos), Gregory Itzin (24) and Alan Alda (The West Wing)

Supporting Actress/Comedy: Cheryl Hines (Curb), Alfre Woodard (Desperate Housewives), Elizabeth Perkins (Weeds), Jaime Pressly (My Name Is Earl) and Megan Mullally (Will & Grace)
Supporting Actor/Comedy: Will Arnett (Arrested), Jeremy Piven (Entourage), Bryan Cranston (Malcolm in the Middle), Jon Cryer (Two and a Half Men) and Sean Hayes (Will & Grace)

Here is TVGuide.com's handy list of major nominees for your perusal. In the meantime, I'd steer clear of the Black Smoke if I were you....

Can't believe LK for the Comeback. That show was the pitts.
Sorry about Lauren and Kristen but happy about DH. That show is fun but just a time filler - not worthy of awards.
Happy that the newer networks are working their way in though.
Still won't watch this broadcast.

I'm so happy that Lisa Kudrow was nominated for The Comeback! She did a great job of making Valerie Cherish come to life. Not once while watching her did I ever think of Phoebe Buffay. I know a lot of people didn't like The Comeback, and I'm not sure that I did either after the first episode, but it really grows on you and I wish HBO would bring it back.

How can you nominate House for Best Drama and not nominate Hugh Lawrie?

Once again, some of the best shows and best actors are left out. I guess we shouldn't be surprised.

No KB or LG? Worst. Nominations. Ever.

Shocked at no JG and EF for Sopranos.

What does John C. McGinley have to do to get nominated?
