Speaking out for the first time since her nude and racy photos slipped into cybercirculation, Vanessa Hudgens offers impressionable High School Musical fans an earnest mea culpa (have Mom look it up in a Latin dictionary). "I want to apologize to my fans, whose support and trust means the world to me," the 18-year-old starlet says in a statement released to TVGuide.com. "I am embarrassed over this situation and regret having ever taken these photos. I am thankful for the support of my family and friends."

And the Mouse House's take on it all? "Vanessa has apologized for what was obviously a lapse in judgment," Disney Channel spokeswoman Patti McTeague tells the AP. "We hope she's learned a valuable lesson."

Oh please, don't apologize. It just cheapens the picture!

Disney should get a grip and if your fans don't like the idea that you actually have a body underneath costuming in a movie, they need to be sterilized before they breed.

"Support from family and friends?"

She means monatery support for more pictures, right?

There's no need to apologize. She's done nothing wrong and owes nothing to her fans.

Correct. Their mothers, however...

She's 18. There's nothing wrong with what she did in and of itself...

...however...

I guarantee that Disney has clauses in their contract dealing with things that will reflect badly on them and their property. So, while she didn't break any laws and probably made a lot of internet geeks VERY happy, her real problem is going to stem from her contracts.

If you're a 'silver lining' kinda folk, though, this might give her an 'out' from owing her soul to Disney. It damn near took an act of God to get Hillary Duff out from under their control. Once Disney gets a hold, they don't ever wanna let go. Could be a blessing in disguise (or, ya know, OUT of disguise...whatever...)

Well said. I hope Disney is mature about it and moves on.

Hah! Disney can't afford to lose their mega-million ticket to brainwashing young children with conservative parents!

Welcome to the Wonderful World of...Cutthroat Capitalism!

Sounds like a marketable slogan. Listening, Disney?

The Associated Press is reporting that Disney is sticking with Hudgens.

I believe Disney will do its best to downplay this, because any controversy will only reduce the sales of HSM DVDs, and this is a franchise they hope will have a long, long life. As long as the hairstyles and clothes don't seem dated, new generations of 'tweens will be lured into owning their own copies. The Mouse won't want to mess with that.

Where can I see these photos?

Learn the ways of the Google, young Padawan.

And no, I have not seen the pictures. I'm a 17 year old nerd; those pictures would burn my eyes out.

I have seen the photo's and I think everyone has overreacted. I mean every body at some point in there life has taken nude pic's. There is noting sexual or distasteful about them. I think Disney made the right decision.

I love it whenever anybody writes, "everybody at some point in their life has..." whatever. Speak for yourself, and don't assume everyone has done what you have.
