Ellen's Ratings Nothing to Cry About, More Short Cuts

The ratings for Ellen DeGeneres' talker in the wake of her on-air breakdown after the whole dog thing were up almost 10 percent.... The Price Is Right is seeing 10 percent year-over-year growth in its 18-49 crowd, with Drew Carey now playing the Plink-O.... Owen Wilson will give director Wes Anderson his first interview since... that... tonight at midnight as part of the MySpace Artist on Artist series, says USA Today.... In related-ish news, Kate Hudson's divorce from rocker Chris Robinson was finalized in court on Thursday.... The Best of the Colbert Report arrives on DVD Nov. 6 (shop Amazon).

I'm glad Ellen's rating grew during her difficult time with that so-called dog shelter place. I think it's horrendous that they are even allowed to stay in business after the way they handled this particular situation. I hope Ellen will be able to say on her show that the dog shelter was closed and no longer in operation. And I don't mean just change their name the way I heard they were going to try to do. Ellen is a sweet woman, and I'm sure she had the dog's best interests at heart when she gave it to her nieces. If the dog shelter really cared about that dog, they would have taken the time to check out the niece's environment and allowed them to keep the dog. Then maybe we'd believe they truly cared about animals.

Maybe it had more to do with fans of Stephen Nichols who had been waiting 2 weeks for him to air only to tune in and find out he wasn't on that day after it had been advertised he would be on her show. Stephen's fans watched everyday till he aired. Maybe THAT'Swhy her ratings were up.

Congrats to Ellen. Her crocodile tears act worked on both the levels she was aiming for: it boosted her ratings, like she hoped it would, and she got her fans to bully the shelter into closing. Despicable.
