Grey's Anatomy star Ellen Pompeo and music exec Chris Ivery on Friday quietly got married at New York's City Hall, with no less than Mayor Michael Bloomberg serving as their witness. The Boston Globe reports that a city clerk performed the quickie ceremony with only Bloomberg and First Deputy Mayor Patti Harris in attendance. "They are over the moon," says Pompeo's spokesperson.

The newlyweds took in a Sunday Knicks game before Pompeo needed to report back to work at Grey's.

How romantic!!! That's the way to do it--IMHO--no media and paparazzi frenzy (a la Tony & Eva). I'm sure they'll have a reception for their family & friends in the near future, and they could put the money they would have spent on a splashy wedding towards a house (if they don't already have one).

Congrats, Ellen & Chris!!!

Congrats to them, I wish them well. I'm glad for them that they were able to have their moment together without any prying eyes.

Social pressure? Puhleeze... the kid won't get any from ME. Keep him away from idiots, and he won't feel any social pressure either. When are people going to catch up with the times? Congrats to them both for avoiding the whole media circus!

THere's no social pressure any longer with mixed race couples and their children!! Out west where we live, it is so common and totally accepted as I believe it is in most urban areas of this country. I guess maybe it's because it's the gosh darn 21st Century?!?!?!

Congrats to you Ellen!! And to Chris too of course! A wedding, just the two of them & a witness, that's how I would want my wedding to be like...

social pressue? why should that be any indicator to who you can and cannot marry? if it's a caring and loving relationship, that's all that matters.

congratulations Ellen and Chris (although I already thought they were married! Oops...)

Very happy for them. I wonder if they went the low-key route in order to not distract much of the press from the writers' strike. I predict a big wedding on their first anniversary or 3 months after the strike(s) conclude, whichever is later.

And now, since the late night shows are in reruns . . . my attempt at bad comedy.

OMG! Meredith married Dr. Webber! Pseudo-incest!

"Breaking: Pompeo Marries; Dempsey's Hair Enters Treatment Program!"

and my impression of a Variety editor:

"Greys Gal Grabs Groom. Knotters Knab Knicks Tix For Honeymoon."

I cant tell you how sick I am of people stating the words "inter-racial" there is only ONE RACE! THE HUMAN RACE! And the last time I checked we all belong to ONE RACE! Congrats to them both! May they live a long happy and healthy life together!

:O What do you mean she took in a game and then reported back to work? There is a strike going on so what work did she report back to? Anyway, congrats to her and her new hubby for getting married without the entire world finding out about it. Guess if you don't want the paps around there is a way.

I don't watch Grey's Anatomy but I want to offer my "Way to go" in hiding this from the paparazzi. It always makes me smile when the well know can simply get married without spending millions and just get on with being married.
