Dissed Ellen DeGeneres Sours on Big Apple Trip

According to the Hollywood Reporter, Ellen DeGeneres has decided against taping her talk show in New York next week in light of the Writers Guild's letter angrily disinviting her. In response, both her union and her production company reminded the poison-pen wielders that she was contractually obligated to return to work, so they can just simmah down now. (Since I'm kinda looking forward to that special winter edition of Big Brother, I assume I'll soon be getting some hate mail from the WGA, too.) — Ben Katner

I think she's doing the right thing. It would've been a mess! Besides, how much fun would a trip to New York be without the writers? The bits that they put together when Ellen is on the road are part of the charm.

As much as I regret that Ellen is being singled out by the WGA, in the end, I'm a supporter of what the writers are fighting for. These are the sorts of repercussions that are to be expected in this unfortunate situation. I look forward to the writers getting back to work with a fair deal and THEN Ellen can go to New York...with her writing staff in tow. :)

Poor Ellen. I am a huge fan of hers and really feel for her. I do not blame her, though...I would not go to NYC with the types of threats she's received. It's unfortunate that the WGA has to resort to threats against people like Ellen..the things they've been saying about her are just appalling, and I don't care how justified you are in fighting for something...you do NOT attack people by insulting them or trying to defame their character or reputation. That is not acceptable behavior, and seeing it has caused me to lose almost all the support I once had for the WGA. If they want this viewer's support, then they need to conduct themselves with some more class. No, wait, scratch that...I'd be happy with just a little bit of class period, because right now they have NONE and I am disgusted beyond what words here can describe.

Aren't there more influential and powerful people in Hollywood that the WGA should be focused on right now? I understand their grievances but leave poor Ellen alone.

Good for her. Now if she would just continue to support the writers instead of trying not to go dark during sweeps week I could get my respect back for Ellen after that Iggy debacle she caused.

With Rumors of NBC is going to fire crew members of the Tonight Show unless Jay comes back to work, They are also even thinking of REPLACING Jay Leno ....

So, I can't blame Ellen for continuing her show, specially when Oprah is still on(She doesn't even hire WGA writers).
