Delta Burke checked herself into a psychiatric hospital last week, she told TMZ, to treat depression, obsessive-compulsive disorder and hoarding.

In an interview, the former Designing Women star, 51, discusses her hoarding condition, a disorder in which individuals collect items to an unhealthy extent. While Burke says that the illness has "ruined" her life, she believes that she'll be able to overcome it, ostensibly starting with her hospital treatment. — Anna Dimond

I have always suspected that Delta had much of that Flannery O'Connor type southern belle eccentricity abut her. But I have also always been a big fan and wish her only the best. My sincerest hopes that she will be feeling and doing better as soon as possible.

She's given me lots of laughs over the years - I love that "Designing Women" lives on in reruns and I really hope that with the help of this facility, her friends and family, 'Suzanne Sugarbaker' aka Delta Burke can finally beat her demons. Much love to you and good luck!

I wish Delta all the best in her effort to resolve her problems. I know several people who have similar problems and aren't getting the treatment they need. I also have a few little quirkies, as I call them, that haven't developed into anything disrupting yet. I will do exactly what Delta is doing if it becomes a problem. There is not so much stigma any longer concerning mental health problems. We all have them to some extent, some just worse than others. Delta has a wonderful personality and appears to be a sweet, loving person. God bless Delta and I pray her treatment will help her overcome her OCD and other problems.

My sincere regards to Delta,
Julia
