David Duchovny Leaves Rehab for Sex Addiction

David Duchovny has checked out of the rehabilitation center where he was being treated for sex addiction.

"David has successfully completed his rehabilitation," Duchovny's lawyer, Larry Stein, told TVGuide.com in a statement. "He is out of rehab and will be starting a movie soon." The X-Files and Californication star, 48, voluntarily checked himself in for treatment in August.

Duchovny is married to actress Téa Leoni, with whom he has a nine-year-old daughter and six-year-old son.

While the actor's on-screen character, Hank Moody, struggles with constant temptation of the flesh in Showtime's Californication, let's hope that the real-life actor has put his own struggle behind him.

Do you think he can get a fresh start? — Anna Dimond

So...

How exactly do they treat that addiction?

Brainwash you with images of your mother & grandmother, and extremely unattractive women?

Or do they just strap you down?

Is there an anti viagra pill?

Oh...maybe you have to play a drinking game where you take a drink every time you have a sexual thought until you can't...

Addiction of any kind is no laughing matter. I hope he can get a fresh start.

oooo, poor me, I can't keep my pants on, oh nooo

jeez, who is buying this, he got busted, used this as an excuse and bonus, a publicity stunt for his show and played out the charade of "rehab"

And I'm supposed to care because...?

So he's "cured." Now he can go to work, expose himself (no pun intended) to the behavior he claims he's addicted to, imitate the 'act' with women, have a cigarette afterwards, and live a normal life.

Sorry, but in this case "addiction" is another word for a man caught serial cheating, not wanting to go through a nasty divorce and custody battle. He was caught with his fist in the cookie jar, and sent to rehab. Yeah, right.

ZZZ if you are referring to me, I can take a joke. I like your sign. Pretty funny. However, when it comes to addiction, I just don't find anything about the subject amusing. I come from a family of addicts. I guess you could say I suffer from addiction myself. Addicted to the addicts if you will.

I agree with the posters who are laughing their heads off at this pathetic attempt to get us to feel sorry for poor David's "sex addiction". I especially laughed at one poster's comment about "oooo poor baby, can't keep his pants on" or something like that. This is not a disease. It's called self-control. We ALL like sex, but we decide when and where and with whom we are going to do it with. I think David is taking his role in Californication a little too seriously. I feel bad for Tea Leoni having to put up with all this.

But we do not all have the ability to avoid acting against our best interests or succumbing to our psychological and/or chemical triggers. It's called compulsory behavior and it is real.

Now, whether or not David has this particular predilection, that's not for us to say. Could be... could be a lie. We are not privy to the inner workings of his mind right now. So why doubt?

Just because I (or, perhaps, you) don't have a craving for cocaine that overrides every other urge and cuts through better judgment like a scream above the din of a busy restaurant, doesn't mean that some people aren't addicted to that drug in just that way. Addiction is real. There really are no constraints on what triggers the addiction.

Why was my comment deleted but the attack of another blogger that initiated my comment allowed to stay? That person (Doink) has 4 comments and ALL of them are attacking other members.

We still don't know exactly what the addiction is. Sex Addiction can encompass a few things i think. I'd think if he wants to keep his family together that yes, he will kick it. What ever "It" is.

It must be so nice to be laugh at someone else's problems. He never came out and asked you to feel sorry for him. He issued one statement and that was it. Even now that he is out you didn't see him and Tea at some Hollywood party posing for photos and trying to get attention. Whether or not you believe in the sex addiction claim is not really important. It is between him and his wife and whatever that choose to deal with in their marriage. Feel free to go back to laugh at him. Just remember that your mistakes are not on view for the whole world to comment on.
