Jane Seymour. Floyd Mayweather Jr. Wayne Newton. Jennie Garth. The lineup for the fifth season of ABC's Dancing with the Stars — premiering Sept. 24 — will again showcase actors and singers not known for their dancing, as well as former teen idols, models, athletes, and names many have never heard of. "The people who work best for us have a good story, who come from a field where you think, 'Wow, why are they doing this?'" says executive producer Conrad Green. That includes "Mr. Las Vegas," Wayne Newton, whom producers have been trying to land for two years. "I've worked my entire life doing two shows a night, seven nights a week," says the 65-year-old. "But this is a whole different ball of wax."

The casting may seem arbitrary, but it's a very precise process. Explains Green, "We tend to start by thinking about a few key people we'd love to get on the show, or professions we haven't had. There are certain professions and personality types that the audience really engages with."

Returning pros include Cheryl Burke, Edyta Sliwinska, Kym Johnson, Karina Smirnoff, Tony Dovolani, Jonathan Roberts, Maksim Chmerkovskiy and Julianne Hough. Hough's brother Derek, also a professional dancer, will partner with Garth, who has reached out to 90210 cast mate Ian Ziering — Season 4's fourth-place finisher — for tips. Says Garth, "I'm in the very beginning [stage] where it's very scary because you don't know anything." — Reporting by Deborah Starr Seibel

They need to change the name of this show to "Dancing With Some People Who You May Have Heard Of Or Used To Be Famous".

Five years in, and that joke never gets old. :-D

I think it's a good line up. A real mix of ages and backgrounds. This should be a good run for Dancing fans to watch.

Yeah Matt I could have used a rimshot after my line. :^O

Well, at least there are a few people that I know and will be pulling for--Jennie, Marie and Jane among them--and Cameron Mathison for the eye candy. :) From what I've heard, the men/women thing will only be the first week, after which everyone will be dancing on the same show.

I hope that Karina lightens up a bit this season, but on the whole, I'm happy with the returning pros. But no Louis?

Ah, monkey, you are right; I skimmed over the press release too quickly. But I liked my idea better!

I must admit I'm unfamiliar with many of the new contestants (a rarity for me), but it should be fun to see Jennie Garth, Jane Seymour, and Marie Osmond.

And best of all, I'll get to see EDYTA again! I hope she'll be teamed up with a guy who can go far into the competition. I just love my Edyta.

I'm with ya there GarryB. Any time Edyta is on I am watching.

Small bone to pick with Matt
It's 5 seasons in not 5 years.

I thought I heard somewhere that Giselle was supposed to be on the show this year...

Oh well, there goes my reason for watching.

B-)Jane Seymour? Now this ought to be good! Marie Osmond did a little dancing on her variety show, but other then that...this is a wide-open group.

And Helio Castroneves-sigh-eye candy!
This might be the most interesting bunch yet!

I know, but if I type "seasons" too many times in one story, I get nauseous.

I just hope that this one is better than the last one. I didn't think the cast was all that great last time.

Some of those models I never heard of, but I think they have some good people this year. Marie Osmond!! Too bad they didn't ask Donnie, too. And "Dr. Quinn" aka one of the Bond Girls (can't remember which one!). And of course, Wayne Newton! The only one that I'm already sick of is that Spice Girl, Melanie. She seems to be in the press a lot lately. Guess her and that skinny one in LA, Posh, want to start drumming up publicity for their future "Spice Girls (aka "Old Bags") Reunion" tour.
