Dancing Jane: Food Poisoning Not a Publicity Stunt

Addressing the bit of actual backlash she is getting from the more cynical folks out there, Dancing with the Stars' Jane Seymour dismisses the allegation that the bout of food poisoning (and related hospital visit) that kept her off Tuesday's results show was all a publicity stunt. "No," she tells TV's Extra with a chuckle, adding, "I mean, it's ridiculous."

Detailing (though thankfully not too much) the ordeal, she says, "I was literally having spasms every minute. It was literally food poisoning, [though] we don't know from what. But I am glad it's gone!" And keep in mind, this is someone with the constitution for British food.

Apparently it was the non-lasting kind because she felt better pretty quickly after she left.

I would consider that from someone else.. But Jane Seymour? Never. The woman has too much class for a trick like that. And she has been through so many worse things in her life than possible elimination from DWTS.

I have had a Mexican or Thai meal or two that literally had my intestines feeling like someone was ringing them out to dry while I ran to the bathroom every five minutes.

And 24 hours after the entire meal had passed (one way or another) I was fine.

So yes, I believe Jane Seymour had a bad meal, probably felt like she was dying (I know I did), and went to the hospital for treatment.

And it was the results show, so I think she can be forgiven for missing it.

I have had food poisoning twice (lucky me). Once was a mild case which was gone almost in 24 hours. The other, lasted about 2 days. Depending on how much is eaten and also the severity of the case recuperation varies.

As someone who has had food poisoning, I know it hits hard and fast. It only takes a few hours to get the food out of your system, so the hospital lets you go home - unless, of course, you get something like e.coli. But, it may take a couple of days to stop feeling weak and shaky. I hope Jane took it easy for a little while.

During my sophomore year in college my friends and I frequented a restaurant/bar that made the best Harvey Wallbangers on earth. They also had ALL YOU CAN EAT SHRIMP night every Tuesday.

I won't go into details but one Tuesday night I decided to never drink Harvey Wallbangers or eat shrimp again. I've been out of college for quite a few years now and I've stuck with that decision which was based on about two of the worst hours of my life.

Food poisoning is not fun. Jane has my sympathy on this one.

I don't think it's a publicity stunt. But it's a bit too "convenient" for me. She was genuinely stunned when her jive didn't get the rave reviews she's used to receiving from the judges. I think that she, as did most everyone, expected to be booted. I don't believe she could face it and "conveniently" had "food poisoning." I have had food poisoning myself on more than one occasion. Very easy to say you have it and even go to the hospital for a cover story. After all, who among us is able (or would want) to follow her into the bathroom to demand the "evidence"?? By the time a person goes to the hospital, you can just "be weak and drained." After all, she IS an actress. And, even Tony said it, "I think she is going to feel a whole lot better now that she knows she is safe." I used to respect her a lot, and really felt badly for her when she lost her mother. But after her snide comment about Marie fainting, and now this? It's time for her to go. There is no way she should still be there and Sabrina sent home.

Real or fake, she will be gone next week. There will be enough negative backlash from this to keep her vote count down. Just the bit of doubt will influence voters and even if she scores high with the judges, she won't with the voters. Need to remember that she is in her mid-fifties, and despite the good shape she is in and her flexibility, her digestive system is much more sensitive than those of the younger contestants. Marie Osmond fainted but it was live, on stage, so everyone saw it. I suppose Jane would have to heave or poop live in order to catch a break with some folks.

What once was a fun career-boosting show has been turned into this huge catfight by the fans. Now Jane Seymour and Marie Osmond, who have done nothing wrong, are getting alot of negative spin from irate fans becasue their favorite got voted off. It's not like these women had her whacked in the knee with a pipe or something.

I am a big Sabrina fan, but unlike most of the posters I refuse to pitch a temper tantrum and act like a 5-year-old becasue things didn't go my way.
It is a tv program. If a television show is going to upset you so much perhaps you need to turn it off and do some things in this world than can truly address the real tragedies of life. An 18-year-old popstar losing a celebrity dance-off is not one of them.

How can it be a publicity stunt when the votes were already in? That's just not using your brain at all. Think knuckles!

Man you people are tuff. You create all of these conspiracy theories just to be negative and bash someone. Get a life!

Those who think it was a publicity stunt have never had food poisoning. And are sore losers that their Sabrina was voted off.

Good grief. No need to try to create drama where there is none.

Plus, British food can actually be quite good!
