Dan Rather: CBS "Overlords" Are Hiding Court Docs

danrather.jpg
Dan Rather by John P. Filo/CBS
Appearing in Manhattan Supreme Court on Tuesday for a hearing in his lawsuit against CBS, Dan Rather claimed that key documents are being withheld from him, namely a private investigator's report he believes could back up his infamously disputed story abut President Bush's service in the National Guard. "It is a fact that corporate overlords working in secret collusion with the powers in Washington are intruding far too often in far too many newsrooms," attested the veteran reporter, who is suing CBS for benching him in 2005 in order to suck up to the White House.

CBS counters that the docs in question actually support its case, and "will be made public" once introduced at trial.

The true American heroes are now those serving on our battlefields and those trying to pry information from the ones in power and bring it to the public. Both of these contingencies fight for our freedom daily and I say THANK YOU to each one.

Since Dan Rather already threw his dignity out the window when he presented fiction as factual news I guess this doesn't make him look any more pathetic then he was before. It's sad watching a former evening news anchor fall this far. The man has no shame.

Dan Rather is one of the few people left in this country who is trying to defend our Constitutional rights against the assaults of the Bush Administration, and you say he has no shame? Where do you get your news from, Fox or some other other Murdoch incarnation?

That story was totally false. Bush was a real hero during his Air National Guard days. Karl Rove had nothing to do with the fake documents that wound up at CBS in order to kill a story he knew was true. He would never do something like that . . . not good old honest Karl, champion of democracy.

Typical liberal. Always trying to blame someone else for their own stupidity. I believe Rather knew the story was false from the beginning...he just didn't think he would get caught. Liberals hate Bush so much they will pounce on anything, true or not, to make him look bad.

silverlady - we don't have to pounce on anything to make Bush look bad... he does it all by himself.

NEWSFLASH

It's not just liberals that hate Bush! It's approximately 80% of the country now.

I admire Dan Rather quite a bit and always have. He's attacking journalism, which needs to be attacked right now. It's not just FOX news anymore that's complete crap!

Unfortunately, this doesn't suprise me at all. I guess I've become numb to everything that has come out of this criminal administration.

njrappa,
PLEASE tell me your post was pure sarcasm. I only ask because a friend of mine worships at the altar of Limbaugh. He says stuff like that all the time...and MEANS it. I'd just like to think that there's no ultra-right-wing idiot virus going around.

steve-annie - typical clueless liberal. Dan Rather has acted like the worlds biggest crybaby after getting caught with his hand in the cookie jar. You don't think that's shameless?

we don't have to pounce on anything to make Bush look bad... he does it all by himself.

honbun26, yes it'd be hard for anyone not to admit that at this point, but I think we would have had another terrorist attack on american soil under Kerry so it's a tradeoff.

tobymax - disapproval of job performance does not equal hate in all cases. That conclusion is a rather stupid leap to make, something Bush would probably do.

Rather knew the story was false from the beginning...he just didn't think he would get caught.

silverlady that's exactly what happened. Dan Rather frequently flaunted his liberal bias and this was a case of taking it to the extreme.

It's funny how often liberals attack Fox News when there are far more blatently bias tv news organiztions that favor liberals: CBS, CNN, MSNBC, just about all that aren't Fox News. You don't hear liberals complaining about those organiztions blatent bias because they're bias toward liberals. The typical liberal cries like a baby when a news organization shows any sign of bias against them and turns the other cheek when the bias is in their favor, which is extremely hypocritical. I think they're just pissed that Fox News doesn't chime the liberal bell like everyone else.

Dan Rather is, in a word, classless. He gets rid of an Icon in Walter Cronkite by using a CBS policy requiring mandatory retirement at age 65 that he was somehow able to avoid.

Give me a break. This guy takes arrogance to new heights with his old school cowboy mentality.

A fitting end to the career that forced out the great Walter Cronkite.

911 would not have happened if anyon but Bush was in office. There was plenty of evidence ahead of time warning of the attacks but he didn't think it was a big deal so he never did anything

I feel sorry for Rather. Once his usefulness was used up, bye bye. Of course he's telling the truth. I don't think that Americans believe otherwise.

Fact. George W. Bush avoided combat by going to flight school. Fact, George W. Bush never graduated flight school. Fact, George W. Bush quit the military early. The only thing wrong is that the feds demanded original records, and they then announced that "The records are lost!".

Canning Dan Rather because Bush arranged for the originals to be lost was an act of cowardess.

Next, CBS will claim that they will fire anyone who announces WMDs were never found!

The media have been cowardly in the matter of Bush, Cheney, Halliburton and Iraq. They still remain silent about The "School of The Americas" and the "Patriotic Act", which is never patriotic! They are angry at Dan Rather for not being as cowardly as them!
