The CW "Outsources" Its Sunday-night Block; Two Dramas, Two Comedies Coming
The CW has signed a deal with the production finance company Media Rights Capital to take over its Sunday-night programming block, where Everybody Hates Chris, Aliens in America and The Game currently reside. As part of the pact, MRC is contracted to develop two dramas and two comedies, and sell ad time for them.
The CW (and the WB before it) traditionally has had a very rough go of it trying to gain traction with Sunday programming/ratings. It is believed that by pawning off the quagmire to a media conglomerate, the netlet can focus its attention on Monday through Friday — where, ostensibly, EHC and/or The Game could find new homes. Coming Sunday nights to the CW- Ausiello's fabled MIA Network. Programming to include Tru Calling, Invasion and Veronica Mars (ok, THAT last one brought a tear to my eye).
Sheesh, I guess I was naive not to have realized what dire financial straights the CW is really in.

What does this mean for the future of Aliens in America, easily one of the funniest sitcoms to hit the airwaves in some time?

I wonder where they will relocate Everybody Hates Chris (currently airing on Sundays)?
Now that the CW has dumped wrestling, I suppose Friday nights are open???

This is prety much the same deal they had with vince mcmahn's WWE. They were paid by him to run the WWE w/ 52 weeks of new programing and gave them most weeks their #1 rated show of the week. CW thinks they will have better luck on FRI. a night UPN never made work untill wrestling joined the night. I believe if CW would of been smart last year and kept REBA a show that would of been compatable w/ Aliens in America follow it by E.H.Chris another new comedy, The Game(one of the few show's on the network that was actualy experiencing growth till they through it on Sun night. followed by girlfriends. and also advertised the NEW CW COMEDY SUNDAY. I believe that would of worked... but to late for that.
I wonder how this will do, it has always seemed like a good plan since all the networks have given up on at least 1 night a week showing reruns.
But, ION Network tried it and they have failed to make it work...for 1 major reason almost all the production companies own their own network and their are very few independent production companies that would have the $$$ to front an evening on a major network on a weekly basis.
I may be wrong would be interesting to see.
Of course an enterprenuer that could obtain the rights to Jericho could run 7PM Jericho Beginings(reruns) 8PM Jericho (new episodes) 9PM Cheap Generic Sci-Fi show from canada

This seems like a sign of desperation in the ranks to me. But, maybe it's just a consolidation of their assets so they can put more money into the good shows they have. Which are few, but include Aliens in America among them. Alas, though, I think it's a goner.

Well, if it becomes infomercial night, then that's the beginning of the end for The CW.
My hope: Warner buys the entire three hours, starts calling it "The WB Sundays," and we see the beginnings of Warner starting a coup de'tat against the morons from CBS Paramount that have been running the network into the ground with asinine "reality" shows and continual cancellation of scripted shows that need the patience of people who are actually *interested* in running an actual network.

I third that sentiment, Irishgirl.
I also like Reaper and will watch it if it's renewed, but it wouldn't kill me if it was gone either.

I agree with Irishgirl about supernatural and I'am still a great fan of Smallville do not take them off. To be honest those are really the only two shows I watch consistently on the new (so called) CW. Oh yeah i watch the Saturday morning line up too. They need a big change.

I agree with Irishgirl, but must add Reaper to that, as it's really come into its own the last few episodes and deserves a second season. Spoiler alert *** I may be the only one who is going to miss Bela, but what a hottie she was.

The CW should've kept Charmed. That is the only show to ever perform well for The WB on Sundays.
