Will the CW Bring Moonlight Back to Life?
Alex O'Loughlin in Moonlight by Eric McCandless/CBS
I almost hesitate to pass this along, for fear of fostering false hope. But a Moonlight source confirms that Warner Bros. is shopping the show around to other outlets, one of which is the CW. (DeadlineHollywoodDaily says that Media Rights Capital, the firm contracted by the CW to program its Sunday-night block, is among those being wooed.)
The rumored possibility of salvation came just as Warner Bros. was poised to start striking down the vampire drama's sets. Instead, they will hold off on the razing until Friday. — MWM

Oh I really really hope so! I don't normally watch the CW, but would definitely tune in for this show!

Is this whole "shopping around to other networks" thing new? It used to seem that once a show was cancelled, it was gone, but we've been hearing about this so much lately. Did I just not pay attention before, or is it a recent development? The only older show I can think of that moved networks is Buffy, and even that seemed to happen before WB axed it.

Doesn't seem like a good fit at all. Just let it die gracefully.

While I would love to jump up and down for this, I don't see it happening. The CW barely supports and/or promotes the fantasy shows it has now. It also slashed the budget for SN even further so the classic rock that was the 4th main character? No more ...
And has anyone seen the rest of the line up for the CW? Teenage sex romps for the most part ... with one night of good TV (Thursday) that they don't promote and will probably not be renewed for the 2009-2010 season.
DO and the rest of the PTB over at the CW know NOTHING about how to run a sucessful TV network.

Use to be about 1 show a season or so... Taxi, Matlock, In The Heat of the Night, Jeff Foxworthy, Naked Truth, Buffy, Roswell, The Critic, Different Strokes, The Hogan Family...to name a few...most lasted less than 2 seasons.
The most successfull move was Jag (NBC season 1, CBS the next 9 seasons).
Now Moonlight might have a beacon of hope in that its predisecor(Forevor Knight)changed networks 3 times in its 4 or so year run CBS to FOX/syndication to USA.

Though I realize this sort of thing almost never actually happens I think it would be good for The CW if they could pull it off. Jericho bombed in the ratings but there’s no doubt the stunt drew some attention.
Jericho’s problem was that most people legitimately didn’t like the show and CBS didn’t need to draw attention to their network as a whole (almost everyone watches at least one CBS show). But The CW really needs to get people to look at them so a Jericho like stunt could work here.
I get the feeling that this is going to be a make or break year for The CW. With a few of their homegrown shows getting some buzz (Gossip Girl, Reaper) and the new 90210 re-launch on the burner they could really get their footing. Pulling over a CBS show with at least a few million hard core fans certainly wouldn’t hurt as a launching

This moving networks is not new.. it is just becoming more accepted. The first TV shows that I remember switching networks were The (real, original) Bionic Woman and Wonder Woman in the 70's. It seemed to work for both of them. Too bad that Moonlight seems to not have the same fate.

I can't believe CBS passed on this show. Let's hope that the CW recognizes the opportunity and takes it!!

Hands off the Fortress of Style, leave Josef's bombed out office alone, and don't even think of rustling a throw pillow in the Chintz Cottage....Moonlight fans might be down, but we are not out.
Any network that WB takes Moonlight to should be well aware that where Moonlight goes - WE GO! The 8 Million fans (most of whom live in multi-viewer households) will follow Moonlight to the ends of the earth and back again if that's what it takes. Along with our loyalty comes our spending dollar - to be spent on the advertisers at those networks.
WB you keep shopping our show - you just tell us the way to go and we'll meet you there with bells on. Any other network would love to have the talented cast of this show as their own and the loyal fans who come along with them. The eye done blinked at the wrong time on this one.
