Couch Trips: Letterman to Welcome Back Regis
When Regis Philbin returns to Live with Regis and Kelly on Thursday, he'll have a friendly face waiting to greet him — and I don't mean Kelly Ripa's. The Associated Press reports that David Letterman will be his first guest.... He's throwing his hat into the presidential race today, but last night Sen. John McCain made history of a different sort: His appearance on The Daily Show with Jon Stewart — his ninth — makes him the most frequent occupant of the hot seat since the program's debut.

Unless McCain's appearance was taped to air tonight, last night's Daily Show guest was Matt Cooper, the journalist involved in the Valerie Plame case.
