Coming Soon: Gossip Girl: The Reality Series?

Spied on the Upper West Side of Manhattan and now in my grubby hands: a flier announcing a casting call for a reality show inspired by a certain buzzworthy CW series. "Are you the real Gossip Girl?" the notice asks. "Maybe an adorable Seth Cohen prepster who hates TV? Either way, we'd love to chat with you. We're looking for NYC prep-schoolers for a reality show [to air on] a major youth-oriented network." MTV? The CW itself? Nickelodeon anxious to fill a programming hole?

Interviews begin Jan. 3 in Brooklyn (ack, don't make Blair go to Brookyln!). Posts questions in the comments section if you need the deets on the where and when for tryouts.

Matt, I don't watch Gossip Girl, but I understand the show has many fans. But to what levels will the CW stoop? Am I the only one who thinks this is a terrible idea?

I had this idea a while ago. It should be on the CW. Should the title be "The Upper East Side: The Real Gossip Girl" or just simply "The Upper East Side"? Any other ideas? Will it be like Laguna Beach?

Mtv already did this. It was called "Rich Girls" and it was fabulous. I hope this is just as awful/good.

I remember Rich Girls. I wish MTV picked it up for a second season. That show was great.

The producers are Brearley, Collegiate and Stuyvesant alums (the cream of NYC prep schools) so it should be the real deal.

I'm so glad to see The CW's highly embarrassing downfall this season. After canceling Veronica Mars, they deserve to go under.

IDCL1, sorry to be judgemental but I feel sorry for people like you. Shows get canceled all the time and it's ridiculous to wish for other, good shows to fail. VM is over, let it go and move on. Holding grudges just make people miserable.
