Will There Be Wedding Bells on The Closer?

Kyra Sedgwick and Jon Tenney in The Closer by Ben Kaller/TNT
Do we hear wedding bells for The Closer's Brenda (Kyra Sedgwick)and Fritz (Jon Tenney) this season? Indeed we do, executive producer James Duff tells TV Guide exclusively. "I will tell you that the first episode of this winter begins with Brenda trying on several wedding dresses," says Duff. "A date is set, but will that date be met? That's the question that we're asking."

Although no one knows for certain whether Brenda will make the trip down the aisle, I'd say it’s looking pretty good, especially after Duff shared his thoughts on TV marriages. "Conventional wisdom has it that romance is over once you marry, on television. But I'm not a big fan of conventional wisdom so I can't really tell you exactly how it will happen or if, but this looks like a good relationship to me."

I loooove those two, so I hope they do tie the knot! God knows our Brenda Leigh Johnson is not someone easy to live with, and they've had their problems and no doubt will have many more, before and after they're married, but Fritz loves her and she loves him and I'm convinced they'd be miserable without each other. I hope everything works out for them, I really do.

Yes, by all means, have them marry. I cannot imagine it ever being dull between these two! They are such a great pair.

Yes, indeed have them marry. Great couple. :)

I would also like to see how the premiere did in the ratings last night. :)

I'm all for actually letting characters get married. If it's done well it won't harm a show. However, I am still wondering after all these years, why does Fritz stay with her? He gives, and gives, and gives, and gets almost nothing back from her; unless you count the grief she gives him even when he is being an incredibly stand up guy who consistently goes WAY out of his way to appease her.

It would be such a breath of fresh air for a series to NOT avoid marriage. I think TV producers/writers have a very unrealistic view of marriage in that they seem to believe that everything that makes up chemistry, humor, and romance suddenly disappears when the vows are said. Marriage actually opens up an entirely new realm of story lines and subject matter. The only decent series I recall where marriage was displayed well was Mad About You. I sure wish other series wouldn't be so afraid to tie the knot (hello, Gilmore Girls...yeah, I'm still bitter about what they did to Lorelai & Luke).

Oh yes! Brenda and Fritz should marry. I like that the show balances Brenda's work and home lives. And I hope that mom and dad Johnson come to stay with the happy couple!

As long as this does not turn into a soap opera type relationship, I'm all for it. She could not be easy to live with (God love her), so more power to Fritz!

YES YES YES...I love Brenda and Fritz. I would love to see them get married. Although I'm sure it won't be the conventional wedding. I love them!

Yes, these crazy kids should get married. I can already see Brenda getting all flustered and impatient while make wedding plans.

The wedding would be a great opportunity to meet Brenda's brothers and Fritz's family.

I think Medium has showed that a tv married couple can be just as interesting and fun as an unmarried tv couple.

I've wondered the same thing. (I also wonder this about Grey and McDreamy.)

She can barely take care of the cat, but, oh well! He's perfect in the way he responds to her.

"Conventional wisdom has it that romance is over once you marry, on television." Brenda & Fritz are all that romantic, now?

Yes I think they should get married. And Fritz should be "the man" in the marriage, not the "gofer". Brenda rules everything else in her life and she's a pain-in-the-ass and most annoying....but I love her. I just don't want Fritz to be "second fiddle." I also like when they occassionally work together.

AND, OMG, HOW I LOVE HER PARENTS. Want to see more of them....her papa puts her in her place and so does the mom!!
