Celebs' Rehab: Taking Shortcuts? Dr. Drew Opines

"News" alert? Dr. Drew Pinksy — the mind behind VH-1's Celebrity Rehab — insists that Hollywood has a big addiction problem, and it's sweeping it under the red carpet. He tells the AP that celebrities aren't taking drug and alcohol addiction seriously enough, often opting for exclusive rehab facilities for stints that are too quick to heal them.

For a guy who claims he doesn't like treating celebrities, Pinsky's mastered the art of not only treating them, but serving as the authority on their addiction. The doc will be laying out his Hollywood addiction views Tuesday in VH1 News Presents: Dr. Drew's Celebrity Addiction Special.

"If you had cancer, you would drop everything," he said. "We can't get people to take three months." Do you agree with the doctor's diagnosis? Drew's special on the topic airs July 1 (VH-1, 10 pm/ET). — Anna Dimond

Dr. Drew is fast approaching Dr. Phil in the Annoying TV Doctor rankings. Nice that he wants to help people though it seems he is primarily focused on offering his help to "celebrities" and in front of TV cameras.

I don't find Dr. Drew annoying at all. From what I've seen of his actual work, he's a very smart man who isn't afraid to be in the public eye and has used that as a platform. He's sort of found his niche I think, though I'd love to see him in a non-celebrity setting...maybe some sort of documentary about the real work he does with his patients.
