CBS' Randy Men Woo ER's Wen, Janeane Garofalo

Apparently all is right with the cosmos. Janeane Garofalo, who recently was announced as a cast member of oh-so-serious 24, will play to her strength as a funnywoman in a guest-star turn on CBS' Two and a Half Men, series creator Chuck Lorre tells TVGuide.com. In the second outing of the new season, Garofalo will play a love interest for Jon Cryer's Alan (who, history is showing us, never seems drawn to the shrinking-violet type).

TVGuide.com has also learned that Vanished Inconceivable ER alum Ming Wen (nee Ming Na) also is visiting the Men, appearing in multiple episodes as a judge who seems to be out of Charlie's league — and yet we're confident she ultimately bangs his gavel.

Actually, I think she was nee Ming Na Wen (her original billing on ER). At some point, she dropped the Wen. Now, apparently, she's dropped the Na. Another couple failed series, and she'll be billed as Na Wen.

She went by Ming Na Wen on As the World Turns when she played Lien as a teenager in the late 80's. In soap years that would now make her a grandmother of three (but dad Tom Hughes is still 45!)

Geez, how many times is this chick going to change her name? (even the character she played on "ER" changed her name after returning from a long absence).

I don't care what she calls herself. I can't wait to see the episode with Janeane as a love interest for Alan. That will be too funny!!!!

GarryB - that sounds right but I can't remember the details. Can you fill them in?

As I remember it, when she came back and everyone was calling her "Jing-Mei", they implied that "Deb" had been an affectionate nickname given to her by Carter, as in "debutante". I could be remembering it wrong.

I'm glad to see that Janeane Garofalo is back to being a brunette. Blond just wasn't her color. After saying for years that she wouldn't do anything to make herself glamorous, the bleaching of her hair wasn't a good move towards that direction. Besides, it's not her looks that make her so enduring. It's that spunky attitude.
