Casting News: Grey's Newest Victim, Smallville's New Superman

Broadway legend Ben Vereen has been tapped to guest on Grey's Anatomy this fall. In his episode, tentatively scheduled to air on Oct. 4, he'll play a burn victim. If we're lucky, a singing, dancing burn victim. (It's Ben Vereen, for crying out loud!)

Find more on this Grey's news here.

First Christopher Reeve, now Dean Cain is guesting on Smallville. The onetime star of Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman will appear in the fall season's fourth episode as a baddy named Dr. Curtis Knox. As in knoxious.

Although Steven Bochco's new TNT legal drama doesn't have a title, it's certainly packed with big names: Jane Kaczmarek, Mark-Paul Gosselaar and Gloria Reuben have all signed up. Kaczmarek will play a wacky judge; Gosselaar, a public defender; and Reuben, his boss.

Six Feet Under's Mathew St. Patrick has joined fellow All My Children alum Abigail Spencer in NBC's neighborhood-watch-group pilot, Backyards and Bullets.

That TNT show won't make it. Nothing Mark-Paul Gosselaar as done since saved by the bell has made it. He's a show killer. Look what happened to Commander in Chief when he (and bochco) joined.

Why don't WB just put Brandon Roust from Superman Returns on Smallville already. We all know he's next to appear on the show in some form.

Leah - I thought he was great on NYPD Blue!

Why the animosity?

well, he was on at the end, so he didn't kill that show, it was already on it's last legs. Besides, I've never seen 1 episode of that show and don't really care to.

Ok, I looked at imdb and it says he was in 66 episodes of that show. So, that's better than I thought.

I just, I look at the other tv shows he's been a part of and the movies he's made, and I don't think he's done anything that great. Not enough to warrant building a show around him.

First of all, Steven Bochko doesn't "build a show around" anyone. He gets his concept, then finds actors to fill it.

Second, his biggest successes have been strong ensemble shows like Hill Street Blues, L. A. Law and NYPD Blue.

Third, how the heck is ANYONE a "show killer?" I've seen Nathan Fillion and Rick Schroder both labeled as "show-killers." I don't see where that's the case at all. That's a harsh and unfair judgment call, in my book.

well, I grew up watching saved by the bell, and he never gonna be anyone else but zack. And build a show around, I'm not necessarily talking about this project, it's multiple projects and pilots he's been in that haven't made it.

And I've never seen any of those shows you listed.

And bochco and mark-paul did ruin commander in chief. The show was great before that. His character was unnecessary to the story and it was terrrible after that. Sure, some of the blame is to be put on the network for putting bochco in charge anyway, but it doesn't change the fact that the show died when they joined.

Leah - I have never seen an episode of Saved By the Bell so I guess we are on different pages here! Agree to disagree!
