Business Matters: Dane Cook the New <I>Bachelor</i>?
Dane Cook is looking likely to land the lead in Bachelor No. 2, about a creep who gets paid to take girls out on dates that are so bad, they go running back to their exes.... David E. Kelley has scored frequent collaborator Thomas Schlamme (The West Wing) to direct the pilot for his ABC drama, Life on Mars.... Deadwood's John Hawkes has been cast as the brother of a baseball great turned substitute PE teacher in the Will Ferrell-produced HBO pilot East Bound and Down.

Wait... they haven't even shot the Life On Mars pilot yet? So is this up for midseason consideration, then?

I'm not so sure that Life on Mars will translate well. It's 16 episodes would do better as a miniseries or event programming. Unlike The Office, I'd hate for this story to go on and on. I enjoyed the contrast between the baton wielding Sam Tyler, and the shoot 'em first Gene Hunt. Will that work in America? Is there that much difference in policing in the USA from the 70's till now?

Wow, so Life on Mars US isnt dead yet? Hmm... it'll definitely be tough to translate, since a big part of what makes the original awesome is the perfect cast.
