Brit's Dad Defends Actions, Manager Accused of Drugging Britney

A statement from lawyers for Britney's father, Jamie Spears, sheds new light on the behind-the-scenes discussion among the parties involved.

The written document obtained by TMZ defends Mr. Spears from claims by Britney's divorce lawyers that his conservatorship was "nothing more than a hostile takeover of... [Britney] for improper purposes." In response, Mr. Spears' lawyer asserts that his client was looking "for the least ugly way to save this young woman's life, bring her back to her babies, and keep her safe from predators."

Further, the document details Jamie's interactions with Britney, in which she called him repeatedly on Sunday while he was working, and later said that Sam Lutfi has stolen some of her belongings.

Lutfi has been a major issue for the family in recent days. A restraining order based on a detailed declaration from Britney Spears' mother, Lynne, claims that ever since manager Sam Lutfi entered the popstress' life four months ago, "[He] has essentially moved into Britney's home and purported to take control of her life, home and finances." What's more, the section of the court doc chronicling previous harassment finds Brit's mom attesting, "Mr. Lutfi drugged Britney... cut Britney's home phone lines and removed her cell phone chargers. He yells at her. He claims to control everything [including] Britney's business manager, her attorneys and the security guards at the gate."

After Spears was hospitalized for the second time in two months, her father, Jamie, and an attorney were granted conservatorship until at least Valentine's Day. The same judge also barred Britney from contacting Lutfi.

Ok, I don't even know why I'm bothering to ask this, but who the hell is Sam Lutfi to Britney?

Read the first sentence and you'll see that Lufti is, or was, Britney's manager...duh.

I don't think this site has enough Britney news. I mean CNN just scooped TV Guide by reporting the Britney is not even capable of wiping herself in the bathroom right now. Come on TV Guide you're falling behind the pack.

Lynne Spears' allegations do not make sense. How would she know if Lutfi was drugging Britney or any of the other stuff she's saying? It's not like she was an eyewitness or anything. AND it was Lutfi who got Brit into the psyche ward this time. Of course, maybe I'm biased because I think Lynne Spears is The Worst Hollywood Mother Ever, but it seems to me she shouldn't be throwing stones. It also seems she's more worried about Lutfi's control over the money than she is - or has been - about her daughter. Lutfi doesn't strike me as anyone's gift to someone in need, but compared to Lynne Spears he at least appears to be trying to save her from herself.

Can someone direct wildbill to a site more befitting his inarguably highbrow tastes? UtneReader.com, perhaps? :^O

I can't believe I am even commenting....But Lufti was the one who has orchestrated BOTH reunions with her mother. That the LAWYERS have said were it not for Lufti she would not have showed up to court the few times she HAS been there. It seems to be that when no one had any ability to get her to do ANYTHING, he did. He also found her a DOCTOR for petes sake. It was her parents who let her run around barefoot in gas stations hanging on KFED.
people can say she was an adult...but we know now...Britneys never really been an adult. She owes that bit of NON GROWTH to the people who raised her.

Id like to hear what the doctor thinks. If he/she thinks ANY of them are any good for her.

Lets be clear Im not wild about any of them. If the court had wanted to however do Britney a REAL favor, they would have appointed someone completely IMPARTIAL to be her conservator.

I would really like to see the article and/or facts where the above statement(edit-before the Gord snippet-Hey, Gord) came from!
I'm not saying it isn't true, just I've never heard any of that before-
but I don't go looking.

I think the Lufti angle makes sense.
If he really cared about her, would he have let her go through with that frightening awards show performance?
If you look back to when they met and when the really bizarre behavior began, I'm willing to bet they match up pretty nicely. However, I'll let someone else do the research. I'm really not that into her!

Like you, Mr. Furley, I don't follow things too closely on this pathetic topic (pathetic, because whenever she possibly pulls herself together, does she expect to have any kind of a career?), but I HAVE drawn the conlcusion that her mother is Batmite insane (that was for Chappy Quiddick), and even though I loved the mama's sister on "Hello, Larry", I just can't shake the feeling that Lufti might have been Britney's one true knight in somewhat tarnished armor.
