Britney's Dad Granted Control, Lutfi Kicked to Curb
Britney Spears by Gregg DeGuire/WireImage.com
Britney Spears' father Jamie was granted legal coconservatorship of his daughter Feb. 1, following an emergency court hearing.
The commissioner who made the ruling, which is pending another hearing on Feb. 4, gave Jamie Spears the ability, among other things, to restrict and limit visitors to his daughter, to employ security guards to protect her — not to mention temporary control of her finances. Within the scope of his authority to secure the property, Mr. Spears was also granted the right to kick out anyone staying there, change the locks and seek restraining orders, as needed.
According to TMZ, along with Brit's dad, her lawyer Andrew Wallet is also a legal conservator. Wallet is intended to serve as an "independent voice" in the management of the estate.
In the meantime, the presiding commish issued a restraining order against Sam Lutfi. For her part, when Brit heard about the new legal terms of her life, she was, by one account, outraged and yelling during two phone calls made from her hospital ward Feb. 1.
Despite Brit's objections, will the stepping-up of the Spears family help get her back on track? Give us your take. — Anna Dimond

I am happy that Britney is finally getting some medical treatment its long long overdue. However, I have question why is the family against Lutfi? "> It's he the one that finally got Britney into treatment through the 5150 order? Shouldn't they be thanking him for stepping up and doing something which is more than what they have been doing lately?
I am not trying to dog the Spears family because I don't know what is going on, but why has it taken them such a long time to get her help. Then when someone takes action to get her help and succeeds they put a restraining order on him? It's a sad situation and I just hope it ends well for all parties.
I bet next week we will see media networks trying to put in bids for her first interview once her treatment is over. I would shoot for going to Oprah personally

I'm betting that her "treatment" won't last long. Remember how long her last "72-hour hold" lasted. This situation will go on for a very long time. Good lord, how long can her money last, anyway? She hasn't done anything in years (except, how much was she paid for her last appearance at the awards show?). Who knows. It's all a crap shoot.

Well its about time that her father finally stepped up to take charge....even if it is temporary. I was wondering where he was in all of this for the longest.

I agree with the first person. While I don't like Lufti, especially how he acts and he does seem to condone a lot of Britney's odd behaviors, but the story was that he was the one who got her a different psychiatrist, got the whole plan for the temp. hold at the hospital going, etc. In fact, I think it was said that her parents got mad at him b/c of the temp. hold plan to take her to the hospital. I don't think there are any good guys in this situation, as Britney's parents have been enablers too for too long as well. I think someone impartial off the street would be able to make better decisions than any of these people.

I believe Sam Lufti insinuates himself into wealthy people's lives. He already has other restraining orders against him. He is only out for what he can get. I am very thankful that Jamie Spears is stepping in. While I would not trust Lynne Spears, I do believe Jamie has her best interest at heart. He seems very sad in the photos of him. I think he's stayed out of the limelight and left Britney alone because she accuses her family of wanting her money. I think Mr. Spears could care less about her money, he just wants her to live at this point. She desperately needs help, but until she wants help this isn't going to work.

I don't see why anyone cares about her. She has a chance to live a better life than most(at least money wise) and she screwing up her own life. I really don't care if she makes it or not. There are a lot worse things that need fixed in this life than Twitney's mental health.

Probably a good thing. If Britney is doing all this in a snit and publicity trick, losing control of her cash should shape her up fast. If she is truly sick, this is necessary. I notice that an uninvolved lawer was appointed by the court to oversee Daddy Jamie's activities. I think maybe it is good that Mama Spears is out the picture. Britney seems to have real issues against her mom. Poor Britney, if her mom takes her to Lousiana, she will not have any chance to see her kids, even if she gets better. The Court has mandated that Kevin has to keep the boys in California. No judge will allow them out of the state even if Brit gets a lot better. It would be up to Brit's mom to let her return to LA to see the kids, and I suspect her mom would hold that over Britneys head.

"...care for children and...clean house and do what women are supposed to do."
"...put over someones knees and spanked every day." "...I will love to spank her spoiled butt..."
Women are supposed to clean house and care for children, and if they don't, they should be spanked?! Is this 1875?
I don't by any means approve of the way Britney has been living her life, but housekeeping and childcare choices are absolutely the least of her problems.
"...sleep with any man that will drop his pants."
I'm not going to bother to point out the redundancy in that comment.

Fascinating, mental health issues can be cleared up by a good spanking and a can of Pledge. Has anyone called the Mayo Clinic??

It is a real shame that Brit has ended up like this. She is such a talented woman and obviously something has happened to her that is as of yet unknown. I'm not so sure that she will ever be back the way she was. Being Madonna's replacement was a rocketed rise to fame that I don't think she was ready for. She has been hounded by the media everytime she shows her face. If I were in her place I don't know that I could handle the intense pressure. Everyone has to have some personal down time with out the world watching. I think if she gets help that she will relclaim her career but, maybe not like it was. When she was a Mousecateer she had to be subdued and when she got out from under it she bolted to be a teenager which, she never had the chance to do while she was a teen. She clearly has a problem and she has shattered into millions of peices. Will she ever be the same? I doubt it. I wish the meadia would leave her alone to let her live her own life without scrutiny. She is almost a mirror image of what happened to Princess Di except Brit is still alive. My heart goes out to her and I hope that she finds the moxy to pull out of this terrible time in her life. I think that there should be some sort of legislation to help stop the paparazzi from their frenzy. It is time that the safety of the the stars becomes important. May the Angels watch over and guide her.

I wonder how many men just got a laugh at the thought that their spouse / partner can be put in place with a little spanking and mandatory house cleaning....oh, if my husband seriously suggested such an arcane solution, I'd find a creative place for the feather duster!!!
Seriously, though, in regards to Brit - she apparently suffers from severe bi-polar disorder. Nothing short of some intense therapy and appropriate use of prescribed medication will help her. Her parents now have the authority to get her that help so I hope they use this new "power" in a positive manner for her benefit and not their wallets.
