Box Office: Angelina's Heart Is in 10th Place

Steve Carell's Evan Almighty, one of the most expensive comedies ever made, topped the weekend box office with a $32.1 million haul — less than half of what Bruce Almighty did in its own debut. The Stephen King adaptation 1408 (which I, frankly, feared would never end) placed second with $20.18 mil, just ahead of Fantastic Four: Silver Surfer ($20.15 mil).

Rounding out the top five were Ocean's Thirteen ($11.3 mil) and Knocked Up ($10.6 mil), while Angelina Jolie's A Mighty Heart sneaked into the top 10 with a $4 million bow.

I'm surprised by the anit-1408 remarks at this website. Everyone that I know thought it was great, including myself.

Talking about Angelina, she and Brad were in my city (Bilbao) this Saturday and nobody even knew about it. I found out the next day, because of course that's how you find out that some big star was 15 minutes away from your house, too late to go see them. :(

I still haven't seen any of those movies. But I'll wait for the DVDs. Going to the movies is too expensive these days. I think the last movie I saw in theaters was The Village. A long time ago...

I have two words for Evan Almighty:

Christ Almighty!!! The movie stinks more than all the colected dung from the animals on the set!

Haven't seen A Mighty Heart but I think they relesed it the wrong time of year. It wasn't going to be a blockbuster anyway but it would have been better served to release it after the summer. I've heard it's a terrific film and Jolie is great in the role.

I wanted Evan Almighty to be good, darn. I hope at least one summer flick stands up to the hype!

Steve Carell and Lauren Graham were great, but the screenplay stunk and John Goodman, the 'villain' was laughable. Also, the little kids were just so awful! Eh. I've figured out a while ago that all the talent is in the TV industry nowadays (IMO), and will now be spending my money on box-sets instead of movie tickets and popcorn.
