Exclusive: Bones Picks "Jimmy Berluti" for Rotation
Michael Badalucco by Duffy-Marie Arnoult/ WireImage.com
Remember that rotation of grad students I told you would be taking turns filling Zack's position as a Bones squint? One of them has been cast, and he's very familiar to fans of The Practice. Michael Badalucco, who played blue-collar Jimmy on the ABC legal drama, is booked for at least one episode, and will first appear a few weeks into Season 4. Yes, he's playing a grad student, but one who has "lived some years" — akin to Grey's Anatomy's World's Oldest Intern, only not that long in the tooth.
In the same episode, look for a visit from Dog Whisperer Cesar Millan, playing... himself. (Maybe he gets confused about a Lab needing help? Haw!) — Matt Mitovich

Matt, While that former Wed. column guy was snarky, and I enjoyed it and how so-o-o many people just didn't get it.... you make me laugh out loud. So thank you! And thank you for the new column.. love the rants.

When are you going to display your picture on a column and get rid of you know who? He's so gone. IMHO

Love Bones, but this truly proves the old adage that there really are no new ideas in Hollywood. Matt already mentioned Grey's World's Oldest Intern. Remember, House also had the old guy without a medical degree who tried to become a member of Dr. House's diagonostic team.

I don't think someone Badalucco's age as a Junior Squint is anything comparable to Norman being totally out of his league on Grey's Anatomy. Zach's position as an assistant to Brennan was as a PhD candidate (not counting the degrees he already had). Zack was a savant (which is probably why he, well, went a little bit wacky at the end of the season, BID.) We've also found out that Cam was a cop for at least 10 years before she took up her Squint Specialty. If Badalucco's character comes in with other scientific specialties -- an MS, MD or something else Squinty, then, yeah, I totally buy someone his age being a PhD candidate.

I love him, but that is an awfully tired storyline. ER, Grey's Anatomy, House, etc. At least it's not a medical show, maybe they can put a new twist in there.

What was the point of getting rid of Zack? I couldn't stand this actor on the practice & now he's going to ruin Bones. Out of all the unemployed actors in Hollywood this is the best they could do???? I guess this means the PATHETIC finale wasn't a dream episode.
Didn't the writer's just get a raise? If so, then why do they all keep writing the same thing. We just went thru the same old intern concept on the show House, Grey's Anatomy etc. This story line did not work on either show.
Bones was a well written and acted show and I hate to see it go down hill. Why not cast someone that can boost ratings instead of drag the show down.

This could be interesting! He was very quirky on O Brother Where Art Thou as Babyface Nelson. I miss the old Practice, although I liked the grunts (Jimmy, Rebecca, Eugene and Eleanor) better than Bobby, Lindsey and Helen. I loved some of the storylines--the killer "nun" and Michael Emerson's William Hinks.

Bah! I'm still hoping there's some possible way to salvage the Zach fiasco and make him not the apprentice.
It's the only way to save this sinking ship.

Altogether now, "Zach's gone." For whatever reason the powers that be deemed it so. Move on. Michael Badalucco was great on The Practice and I'm sure he's going to do fine on Bones. Let's give him and the show a chance before we condemn them both.

I like this performer a lot, and as others have said, it makes sense for doctoral candidates to come from a wide range of ages. (Also don't see why people are comparing this to medical shows -- "House," GA and "Scrubs" have all had older interns, but it's far more unusual to have an older medical student. Or is there some confusion between doctors and doctorates?)
However, the person I want in the lab full-time (b/c I think they will settle on somebody eventually) is Clark Edison.

Achey - I hope that you are not serious. Zack was an enjoyable part of the show but I see no reason to abandon ship because he is gone.

Oh for goodness sake - are they going to keep tampering with Bones until it has totally jumped the shark? It all started when they made Zack part of the evil season ending plot - now this? Enough already - you're killing the show.
