Trainers Not Pumped About Biggest Loser Twist

Are Bob Harper and Jillian Michaels raving about the decision to let viewers vote this week on who The Biggest Loser's third finalist should be? Fat chance. Michaels, for one, is "disappointed' with the change in format. "Biggest Loser is not a popularity contest. It's so much more than that," she said in a Friday conference call. "I don't get it, personally."

Like Michaels, Harper fears that fans don't have enough information to adequately weigh in on so pivotal a decision, since fans have not seen firsthand as much of each player's progress as they have. "It's really a tricky thing," says Harper. "[The viewers] get all they've seen on the show, but it's still much more than that."

To that end, exec producer Mark Koops says this week's episode will recap each player's journey and afford each a chance to appeal to the audience. "It's incredibly powerful," he says. "I personally think it's going to be well received."

What's your take? Is this an instance where reality viewers should be subtracted from the equation and not have a vote? — MWM

I just feel sorry for the contestant who will have spent months working out at home hoping to have a shot at winning but will find out on that last show that American has vetoed them. Finding that out live on the final show will hurt.

Jillian shouldn't be upset - if America has its way, Roger is going bye-bye.

If Roger goes bye-bye, Kelly wins. Ali and Mark don't have enough fat left to win this.

I realize this is ultimately a game/reality show, but this "subject" is far more serious than allowing the public to decide.

Well it is already a popularity contest among contestants. There have been numerous times when someone who could of won the whole thing is set packing especially when they are still in teams and others see them as a threat. We have to hope Roger is below the yellow line so he might not be able to be in the final. If he is above the whole thing is decided already.

Why? I think what these people go through to get rid of the weight is nothing short of wonderful! They are truly an inspiration to a LOT of people that have struggled with weight issues. As far as letting the public vote, I don't think they should do that.

Just when I thought BL was separating itself from the herd, i.e. limiting the gamesmanship factor by penalizing water-loading, now their jumping into the AI cesspool. ITA with Jillian on this one. It's not supposed to be a popularity contest. Maybe it is on the ranch, but viewers should not be a factor in who wins the big bucks. Dropping the fat should be. Yuck!

I'm still gonna watch, cause as realicrap goes, at least this one has admirable goals. But I'm non too pleased about this latest/lamest twist.

I don't have a problem with it. I think if it comes down between a man and woman, America will vote to keep the woman because they want to see a woman win this. (And that's not a bad thing)

And as much as I like Jillian, I have to disagree. Biggest Loser is about improving a lifestyle, but also a popularity contest. If it weren't, she wouldn't care who won the competition because the overall goal is helping someone lose weight. Plus, these contestants are supposed to INSPIRE people....and if you're inspired, you like that person...and if you like that person, he/she is your favorite.... and if he/she is your favorite, you'll vote to see that person stay on... and if that happens, IT'S A POPULARITY CONTEST. Hello....

;)

I could not have said it any better Spider-Man.

However Jillians' "MY-Girl"!!!

She's entitled to a rare moment of imperfection...

On 3 Pride....or, On 3 Cry. I think the pride thing is dorky, don't they realize it could mean Gay Pride and they now have tattoos?! "Not that there's anything wrong with that..." Maybe that's why they cry so much.

Is it just me, or does anyone else think that trainer Bob is gay?

I love this show, though, and like the 2-hour episodes this season. There's not much else on TV anyway and the contestants do work their asses off. I think the reward should be a million though, they work harder than the people on Survivor.

Also, I haven't liked EITHER of the female hosts. Let's get the guy who hosted Fear Factor, Joe. He was entertaining and better to look at!

Never mind my question about trainer Bob. He is a make up and hair artist, I rest my case! (Not that there's anything wrong with that)

I am not happy with a lot of things that BLCouples has done this year! I am especially unhappy about the "twist" to let the public determine the third finalist! Just when you think the girls are FINALLY going to have a chance, they pull this stunt! The trainers are right -- America doesn't really know the players as well as the other players do. Why do the producers always have to do something "different" at the end. It was working fine just as it was!!

I believe the general public should NOT be allowed to vote. Did THEY do what it took to loose that weight? No! Leave the ones who lost the weight vote. They deserve the privilege.

Thank you,
