« Today's News: Our Take
Big Brother to Offer Usual Summer Lovin'
Despite the best efforts of the Idol juggernaut to squash the life out of the special winter edition of Big Brother, CBS will in fact serve up the usual summer cycle as well. A premiere date has not yet been set.
Similarly, says the Reporter, Fox may wind up with back-to-back editions of Hell's Kitchen on its 2008 menu, having ordered a double run for this latest production cycle. Hell's returns in mid-April.
What's your take? Does Big Brother risk overexposure? Might back-to-back Hell's Kitchens be overindulgent?

I don't know if I'll bother even checking out this summer's BB. The past two seasons have been so incredibly awful that I don't think I can stomach watching another one. I already gave up on this winter edition after a couple weeks.
I used to be a big fan of Big Brother, but they've "jumped the shark" in terms of casting nothing but completely unlikable people.

If they will go back to the "usual" BB fare, I'll watch. I will NOT watch this crap they have on now.

I hope they have better ideas and smarter players for the summer edition. And that the producers stop telling them how to vote.

This is the worst bunch ever. I lost interest weeks ago. There is not one likeable person on the current BB to root for! Wish there was a way for none of them to win the money!

Ugh...after that awful twist last week where they threw all of America's votes into the garbage I don't know if I can stand watching Big Brother anymore. I really want to just boycott Big Brother, but well...it's so addicting, and it's not like I have a Nielson box anyway...

Big Brother suffers from underexposure (and overmanipulation) here in the US. The UK edition airs every night along with a pre-show and a post-show, so no matter how much of a fan you are, you are able to follow along. CBS splits their watchers into two groups; one that follow along in real time by subscribing to the live feeds online, and the other group that only watches the show - which only shows a small part of what's going on and only what CBS wants you to see. I had to make sure my kid did not start watching the current version because the stuff that went on in the house was highly sexual right from the start. That's what CBS wanted when they cast all the young wild-childs (along with the 40ish Penthouse gal). They need to go back to the Survivor formula when casting: One African-American man, one African-American woman, one Asian-American man, one Asian-American woman, one Grandpa, one Grandma, one young virginal-type male, one young virginal-type female, one beauty queen type, one stud-in-his-own mind, one smarty-pants, one punk, and fill in the rest with combo-plates.

You can never get to much drama from Big Brother or Chef Ramsey. MT

I could never get enough of Big Brother. I am so glad that CBS will be having their regular summer version of BB. I was afraid that because of the winter episodes they might skip the summer. Thank you BB and CBS.
