Big Brother Lockdown! Evictees Off-limits to Press

Late Thursday, media outlets including TVGuide.com received the surprising word that neither Big Brother 8's Amber nor any other upcoming evictees will be made available for "postmortem" interviews. Why the change in long-standing policy? "We have made jury members... available to the press the past two seasons, always with the proviso that their questions not inform the ejected houseguest of influences outside his or her personal experience in the house," CBS says in a statement. "This season, several cast members have made either offensive statements or exhibited controversial behavior. We respect journalists' interest and right to pose questions about these matters, but at the same time believe doing so could provide information that influences the final vote and potential outcome of the 12-week competition." Cue lockdown.

CBS adds that any and all castoffs will be available for Q&A... following the Big Brother finale airing Sept. 18.

Well I think it is obvious that Big Brother is trying to protect Amber from having a total meltdown. With her fragile emotional state and her dillusions that she is very popular, and "one of the good people" any public interviews could set her off into a mental breakdown!

Damn - that would have been entertaining!

?<img border="> I kid, but I care!

I am going to go out and by stock in Kleenex!

Julie Chen is a journalist somewhere on her resume, why didn't she just go with HER reporters instinct and ask the questions that needed to be asked of this anti-Semitic truly awful person? A lot of people might have respected her for that move.

So CBS doesn't want anyone to ask her about her antiSemetic rant before the show ends. I guess they figure that she'll overcompensate by giving Eric a vote if he makes it to the final two?

It's just a smokescreen CBS is using to disguise the fact that Amber is now shooting the cover of the Sports Illustrated swimsuit issue, that they can't seem to get Jen away from her mirror long enough to give an interview and that Dustin has joined the new Village People.

I'm a huge fan of the show, but, did I miss something? What anti-semetic remark?

Wow - I never thought of that scenario!

Amber made some negative and stereotypical comments about Jewish people during one of the BBAD viewings. I believe that she was talking to Jameka at the time.

daysfan15- where have u been? a few weeks ago Amber made some anti-semetic remarks about. I don't want to go into it....but go to jokers and you will get the whole Amber mess.

Anyway....I hope Big Brother and CBS get Amber some much needed professional help. When she reads the boards and sees herself on youtube...she really is going to lose it. And the girl better not sue.

She probably won't sue, but you know she's going to cry!

I can see it now:

When asked about anti-semitic remarks made in the Big Brother House, Amber had this to say, "What does that mean?"

It's going to be a riveting day for journalists everywhere. *yawn*

Maybe they won't allow any interviews because they don't want the evictees to answer questions about the amount of influence the producers have had on who has been evicted this year, all in the name of ratings.

Who really watches this CRAPPY reality show? It is the worst of all reality TV!!! I cannot believe the comments so far, and I predict more to come. If people cannot live in the same house with others for a limited amount of time, then they NEED to be single for the rest of their lives. Also, I cannot believe that Julie Chen hosts this show. She can do better than this to boost her career. What a disgrace, and again what CRAP TV? I hope CBS will not renew this show for next summer. Eight seasons already is a bit too much. Come on, CBS, be more creative than this. After all, you are the #1 network in America.

I find it extremely unfair that CBS announce that the evictees will not be available for interviews because they :

"believe doing so could provide information that influences the final vote and potential outcome of the
12-week competition."

Yet they "allow" Janelle, to enter the house for a veto competition, and give certain houseguests opinions about who is liked and disliked...possibly helping them in the final outcome!

Many of us Big Brother Fans are very upset about this and feel that this season the winner has been "pre-determined".
