Finally! Galactica's Flight Plan Is Revealed

After what feels like a frakkin' eternity, Sci Fi Channel has announced the premiere date for its Emmy- and Peabody Award-winning Battlestar Galactica. The show returns to our orbit with a pair of back-to-back specials airing Friday, March 28, during the 10 o'clock hour. Up first is Battlestar Galactica: Revisited, presenting essential information on the characters, relationships and major plot points of the series' first three seasons. Battlestar Galactica: The Phenomenon follows, offering a celebrity-studded celebration of the show's impact on pop culture.

And oh yeah — the first new Season 4 eppy hits your screen Friday, April 4, at 10. Happy travels!

Hell to the yeah! I'm so excited about the return of the best show on TV. Now if only those pesky Season 3 DVDs would be earlier than Mar. 28. Seriously, what the frak am I going to do until then? Razor party? Yes, I have geek stamped on my forehead.

The season three DVDs have already been released in England, why not in the U.S?

I guess Sci-Fi is running all of Season Three before the start, tomorrow morning is the re-air of "Precipice". Thank god for DVR, it is airing consistently 5:00am Saturday mornings.

This wait sucks.

I'll post what I just did over at Zap2It's website...

Man, I can't wait for this. The wait for season 4 has been really hard, but from what I've read about what is coming up this season, the wait will really be worth it.

But what hasn't been answered yet, and won't until the writers strike is over (hopefully by next week) is whether or not Sci-Fi will break up the season as has been suggested by the network.

The producers of BSG were able to write and film 13 out of the final 20 episodes from what I understood. If the writers strike goes on, then Sci-Fi's decision will be made for them. We'll get the first 10 episodes and then wait probably until January 2009 for the final 10. But, if the strike ends here soon, BSG will go back and finish the last 7 episodes and then Sci-Fi will have to decide whether or not to break the season up or not.

Ron R. Moore has said a couple of times recently in interviews that episode 10 ends with a monster of a cliff hanger. He said fans will go nuts if Sci-Fi puts BSG on hiatus after episode 10 airs.

The minute I saw Kara's face I got so frackin excited! I can't wait. The only thing I'm worried about is if Sci fi going to make us wait one MORE year to see the last 10 episodes of season 4.

The specials are new news, but the premiere date was announced on SyFy Portal more than a month ago.

The first episode of season 4 airing on my birthday - I've never gotten a better gift!!! Let's hope they do make us wait until 2009 for the last 10 episodes. We may never get a show this good again in our lifetime, I'd love to stretch it out another year:)

This is great news! Other great news (at least for me because it combines one of my favorite TV shows with my favorite hobby - playing board games) is that Fantasy Flight Games is creating a new game based on BSG!

From the press release:

the game simulates the frantic nature of the show. Players work together to solve internal resource and political problems, while preparing for and fighting cylons. And true to the show, one or more of the players may be Cylons secretly working against the rest of the players. It's scheduled to come out this fall, during the break between airings of the first and second halves of the final season.

This is my (aka a sci-fi geek's) dream come true! Woo hoo!
