Heads up, Star and Rosie! Your former colleague and boss Barbara Walters has finally finished her memoirs. The news vet turned producer/host of The View announced on Monday's talker that after 1 1/2 years at the keyboard, she finished writing her autobiography over the Thanksgiving weekend. The tome is due in bookstores in May, she reports, and has "a great title"... which she wouldn't reveal. "I hate this book," Walters said several times, presumably joking. "It's too personal!" She may hate it, but we love it! Not that we expect any real dirt on the rich and famous from the always politic Ms. Walters. (Just a little grime will do.) — Ileane Rudolph

Barbara Walters has always been full of herself. Back when she was a serious reporter, she had credibility. Now she panders to the already selfish, self-centered celebrities, of which she should certainly count herself among. Her auto-bio is likely a rehash of all those oh so "important" folks she has met and influenced along the way (in her mind at least) and I doubt it will be suitable for the "reference" section of the library.

I am looking forward to the book. She has interviewed some of the most powerful and interesting people in the world. Plus she blazed the way for every female journalist/newscaster that followed. To say it will be boring because the show (the view) is boring - as a few people have commented - so diminishes who she is and the huge impact she has had on the industry.

The publicist/s for The View must have dirt on every major media owner in the world. How else can anyone explain how everytime one of those women farts it ends up in the news? I mean, ok, she's got a book coming out, but it seems like EVERY week one of those women is in the news for SOMETHING, and half the time it's about NOTHING. One week it's Whoopi supports Michael Vick and Dog Fighting, then it's Sherri Shephard doesn't know the earth isn't flat, then Elisabeth's husband is let go and picked up by another team so they hafta move, then she spurts out another puppy, then we have to find out what she named it, now Babs has a book. ENOUGH WITH THE VIEW HOSTESSES PLEASE!!! Oy. you'd think their show mattered. It's ratings are lower than some national radio shows, yet they're ALWAYS in the news. Just stop it, please. Let them go away and if they do something of any real importance, then let us know, ok?

Re: BW saying she hates the book and it's too personal, I believe, is her way of starting to hype it. We will hear much more of it as she dribbles little bits and pieces to entice us to buy it.
