Amy Poehler Applying for Office Job?

Saturday Night Live vet Amy Poehler is said to be in talks to front the spin-off of NBC's The Office, currently slated for a midseason premiere. I say currently because, as the Reporter notes, pregnant Poehler is due in the fall, so some schedule rejiggering may be necessary.

Thus far, outside of a deal to include comedian Aziz Ansari in the cast, nearly nothing is known as to the concept of the spin-off.

Both NBC and Poehler's reps declined comment on the trade's story. Me, I think it's a match made in heaven (as long as, Mickey and I agree, Kristen Wiig stays put, damn it.) — Matt Mitovich

Except for her Suzie Ormand impression I could do without Kristen Wiig at all. I have never seen a better example of someone who is obviously talented but simply just NOT funny. Amy's funny even when her material is not.

Wow, if Amy Poehler joins, she's just taken this Office spinoff from "bad move on NBC's part" to "must-see TV" for me.

I'm still skeptical since they appear to have created the show without having any ideas about what will make it different from its parent show, but Amy Poehler is one frackin' funny woman.

Now they're saying the show won't be a spin-off at all. I'm glad since I never thought that was a good idea, but it still worries me that they seem to have no premise. My suggestion? A show about a couple of struggling actors who make ends meet by working as extras.

I agree, DaMess. I would be pleased as punch if Kristen Wiig left SNL. She has some occasionally funny bits, but--admittedly, in true SNL fashion--they seem to be all the same character. I do not understand the praise I keep reading for her. I would really miss Amy Poehler if she leaves, though--and I still miss Maya Rudolph tons.

You obviously don't know what funny is DaMess.

Amy Poehler should get her own, all new show, not some ill-advised spin-off.

Wiig's "Aunt Linda" (the movie reviewer?)is seriously theee most irritating chracter on SNL in years....and they've had plenty...worse than "Paaaaat". It's so bad, annoying and so not funny, I have to forward through it or change the channel. I can't see how anyone thinks that's funny.

Yes TSilk. You are absolutely right. Perhaps I should take the time I spend not making personal attacks in these posts and use it instead for humor research.
Your ability to overlook the subjective aspects of humor is quite impressive. As is your ability to state your case without citing any examples or employing any kind of reasoned argument.
