The Next Idols Might Be Celeb Spawn
American Idol's producers are moving on from regular pop-star wannabes and will next be showcasing the offspring of celebs, the New York Post says.
The show, tentatively titled Rock the Cradle, will feature a lineup of celeb spawn singing their way to stardom in an Idol-like format that will air on MTV. While a formal announcement about the show will be released next week, the show's participants have not been fully nailed down yet — although Art Garfunkel's 17-year-old son, James, is one of the potentials.
AI's producing company, Fremantle, and MTV have quietly been working for months on the details. We can only cross our fingers that the celebs' spawn have as much star power as their parents to entertain us for a whole season. — Anna Dimond

I saw James Garfunkle perform with Art (and with his wife/James' mother, whose name I can't recall) a couple of years ago. His voice is eerily similar to Art's (back when Art could hit the really high notes), and he closely resembles Art (down to the curly hair).

Another show regarding members of the the LUCKY SPERM CLUB. Does the public get a damn about celebrity children? Frankly, I will change the channel. MTV, you are selling out!

I'm mystified. Why do you need a show for celeb's kids to showcase their talent(cough, cough, in some cases)? Won't mommy and daddy give their kids a leg up? Case in point. Wolfgang Van Halen is the new drummer for his daddy's band, at the tender age of 16.
