Amber Tamblyn of Arcadia Is CBS' Go-to Girl

Amber Tamblyn, who played the titular God-gabber on CBS' acclaimed (and rudely dismissed) Joan of Arcadia and starred on the Eye's fall 2007 pilot Babylon Fields, has been tapped to play the lead in The Russell Girl, a February 2008 Hallmark Hall of Fame flick. Russell Girl, says Variety, concerns a small-town gal who attempts to escape her past by moving to Chicago, yet ultimately is forced to deal with the tragedy she left behind.

Speaking of left behind, Variety also says that Babylon Fields — in which a quiet town's deceased again walk the earth — itself may still have some life in it, and could get a pickup for midseason.

I'm glad Amber's career is going well. She's a terrific actress. Reading about her made me remember how horribly us Joan of Arcadia fans were treated by the network. They never even bothered to have a finale for us to finish up any storylines. That's one show I still miss.

I am still miffed that CBS canceled Joan of Arcadia, but if they can get Amber Tamblyn back in a series, then I am on board. She is as talented as her father Russ Tamblyn (well known actor and dancer from the 1950s area) is.

I'm still ticked about it being cancelled too! I loved that show. I'm glad to see she's being cast in other projects. I'm also glad to see her Joan of Arcadia dad being cast in Criminal Minds! That's great!!!

I stumbled across Joan of Arcadia one night and was never one of these CBS Touched by an Angel fans but after an episode I was amazed at this young actress Amber Tamblyn. Her talent was impressive and she more than held her own with such veterens as Joe Mantagna and Mary Steenburgen. Every episode we saw the growth of Joan and knew that she had bigger thngs to accomplish in her life. Besides Joan there was a wonderful group of supporting actor who now I take great pleasure in seeing on others shows and in movies. Does anyone know if Joan of Arecadia has a season boxed set out?
