While Aliens in America is still on the bubble, the show's costar, Adhir Kalyan, has sewn up a recurring role on FX's Nip/Tuck.

As Ausiello reported, Nip/Tuck was casting for a young Dr. Raj (really young), and they've found their boy, says the Reporter. Dr. Raj is a 16-year-old, socially awkward doc who joins the medical group to help Dr. Troy with surgeries. No premiere date has been set, but the show's next season is in production.

Kalyan fans will also find him in several upcoming movies, including Fired Up and Paul Blart: Mall Cop. Are you ready for the addition of Kalyan to the show? Hoping he'll just get to keep his Aliens job? Let us know. — Anna Dimond

IMO, his casting on Nip/Tuck means that AiA is clearly dead. With the CW closing down its sitcom development department, that means that the CW has only three sitcoms -- one of them has to go to round out an hour-long slot. And EHC and The Game are more compatible with each other than AiA with either of the other two.

Something tells me that Lauren Graham's turn-down of Cupid and The Office's spin-off and now AiA's freefall in chances strongly suggests that a Gg reunion might be in unofficial discussions at the moment.

PS: Going along with Warner's dissatisfaction with CBS's handling of the business side of their partnership in the CW, it certainly looks like they're interested in keep Kalyan employed under the Warner banner at Nip/Tuck.

I really want AiA to return next season, but this seems like a sign that it's pretty much over :(

He could just be trying to keep busy during the summer, but I don't think so.

I will miss Aliens In America and I gave up on Nip/Tuck this year (I just couldn't convince myself it's a quality show any longer). What I would really like to see is Adhir come up here to Canada and join the cast of Little Mosque On The Prairie.

Thanks, iamjillian, but the funny thing is this time I'm not joking! Check imdb.com. There really is a pretty funny sitcom here called Little Mosque On The Prairie! I thought it was a joke when I first heard about it, too, but it's going into its third season this fall! :^O

Oh, I forgot to write my original comment -- hence the inexplicable PS. Don't ask me how it happened. All I can say is that I have two cats and one of them likes the delete button). Soo . . .

Hmm . . . Lauren Graham ends her NBC-Uni deal shortly before the strike[1]. Scott Patterson now doesn't have a show. October Road is canceled, so Sean Gunn is free. And in a much better version of the Today show's game, "Where in the world is Liza Weil?" I'm almost starting to detect some sort of a hypercaffienated a trend.

Yes, iamgillian, it's about a small community of Muslims living with non-Muslims in Saskatchewan. There's a Muslim man married to a white woman who is converting. There's a teenage daughter who doesn't want to wear the hijab. There's an older fundamentalist Muslim man and a Rush Limbaugh-type radio talk show host. It's quite an interest mix of opinions about cultures trying to live together and being suspicious of each other. It's not the funniest show on TV, but it has its moments. :)

I wish Adhir Kalyan luck in everything he does - not that he needs it. He's an extremely talented actor!!! Don't bet against a super bright future for him....

In answer to your question about him keeping his job on Aliens - a huge, resounding, slightly-desperate YES!!!!! The CW should give both gems - Adhir - and his premiere show - a deserved chance with another season of Aliens in America - one of the few shows on TV that's by turns funny, poignant, and topical; and appeals to multiple ages ... a show families can enjoy watching together (what a concept!)

As AiA is the only show I watch on The CW, I hope it comes back, but as others have said, the news about Mr. Kalyan isn't a good sign. I have given up on Nip/Tuck for the third time after the move to Hollywood went sour for me. I wish him well though. Sounds like a good part for him.

I like Aliens in America, but it was doomed from the start. The CW gets low ratings as it is because a lot of people haven't even heard of the CW, and the CW didn't advertise the show much, especially when it was moved to Sundays. I was hoping it would at least get a second season, but oh well. I'm glad the actors are at least getting other parts. This will probably be good for Kalyan's career too. I have never seen Nip/Tuck though, because I don't have cable or satellite TV.
