Paparazzo Popped for Stalking Jamie Lynn Spears

Shutterbug Edwin W. Merino, 30, of Los Angeles, was arrested on Tuesday on charges of stalking mom-to-be Jamie Lynn Spears. Authorities in Liberty, Miss., tell the AP that Merino wouldn't leave 17-year-old Spears and her fiancé, Casey Aldridge, alone during his four-day visit to the small town.

Merino denies the charge, saying that he was some 200 feet away from the couple, using a long lens, at the time he was arrested. "I think since I was the only [paparazzo] there, it was just easier for them to single me out," he has argued.

Good!!! It's about time. She moved out of California to try to have a normal life and the pooparazzi won't leave her alone. It's not like she's at the Ivy or out on the streets in LA, she's in a small town. She screwed up, but she is trying to do the right thing. I hope he gets time.

Matt...

Not to be picky, but Liberty is a small town in Mississippi, not in Louisiana.

You might want to update your posting.

Man...you seem REALLY busy these days, so I guess that's an easy thing to overlook.

Having been to Liberty, MS, several years back, a paparazzo would stick out like a sore thumb, whether he was 200 feet away or not. Liberty is a very small town.

Nice! This should happen to every paparazzo on the planet, not just in Liberty. California is hip deep in budget problems, imagine how much money could be made by arresting those vermin with cameras and charging them with stalking.

You know, I had a feeling I had it wrong as I typed it. Thanks for the catch! - MWM

They should all be arrested and have restraining orders against them. Why is it legal for them to stalk people, which is all they do? It's terrible. Even Parker on BB called himself a professional stalker.
