ABC's Traveler: The Final Secrets Are Revealed

As promised, David DiGilio, the creator of ABC's unjustly dispatched Traveler series, has come forth with a final TVGuide.com celebrity blog entry revealing not just the secret of the Fourth Branch and the true identity of the Porter, but also the (would-be) game plan for Seasons 2 and 3. Explaining the Fourth Branch alluded to in the "series" finale, he writes, "Our founding fathers wanted independence from England, and they needed to unify a fledgling country populated by a multinational constituency to win the war. What better way to rally a disparate army against the oppressors than to promise the common man a voice in the new government? But what if the founding fathers were also scared of the common man’s power? Would they have perhaps put safeguards into place? A branch that sits above the people’s three official branches of government? That, my friends, is the Fourth Branch. It is the realization of one of our worst fears, that though we live in the world’s greatest democracy, we are not the ones steering the ship."

For DiGilio's complete and extremely detailed peek at what would have been Traveler's future, see his TVGuide.com celebrity blog.

I just read it, and man if you're expecting footnotes and a quick rundown, prepare to be blown away with info.

I know, to some extent, all showrunners care about the fans but this was a really good gesture and i'm hoping others will follow suit

I know, right?! David DiGilio truly went above and beyond. A fascinating read.

Reading his blog just made me angrier at ABC. How could the network executives be so blind they don't appreciate this talent? And this story line?

I'm still so disappointed that it won't be back. But I really appreciate Dave taking the time to give his fans some closure. I'll watch any show he is affiliated with (within reason) - but I hope he dumps ABC!

Thanks, Matt, for the link!

It's a great blog and just makes me even more sad that the show didn't live on.

Dave's been awesome ever since, providing some great insider info about the show and of course caring so much about the fans of the show.

I have read it too, and it's amazing. I hate ABC. This could have had a great run if only they'd had some faith in the audience.

I think it is GREAT that David kept the communication lines open with the viewers and gave us closure. He has gone above and beyond his call of duty and has done more than any other program I know about. Too bad he is considered an exception, not the rule in the creator/writer world. After all aren't the viewers an important factor in making a series a success?

Also, it was extremely disappointing to have to "read" the answers instead of "seeing" them on TV. My faith in ABC is gone. I can't trust a station that cancelled Traveler, added Caveman, and believes that Reality TV is what most people want to watch. WAKE UP ABC !! Someone over there needs a reality check BIG TIME!!

A non-ABC watcher this year.

Gee. Somehow that really didn't satisfy my yearning for more Traveler at all.

I'm just realizing Traveler is not coming back on. I have been checking and checking. I also think this is one of the best shows on TV in a very long time. I am extremely disappointed that ABC dropped the show. Are they crazy?!

Thank you for taking the time to write this for your fans. I've often wondered what had happened to good shows that were canceled. Makes me love the internet that much more. What a fascinating plot and story line you provided here. I will be looking out for more of your work in the coming years. I'm hooked. :)

Thanks Again.

PS I never bother to comment on these sorts of things, but your show called for the exception. It will be missed.

I think that what was planned for the show sounds (except with tyler dying) i wish it would be picked up by a different station so that we can see the end.
