ABC Stays Dirty, The CW Sows More Reaper

ABC has ordered an additional three scripts for two more of its freshman series: Dirty Sexy Money (woo-hoo!) and... Carpoolers (who knew!). Thus far this season, ABC has picked up Private Practice and Pushing Daisies for full seasons, ordered six more Samantha Who? scripts and, well, done nothing yet about improving Cavemen.

Elsewhere, the CW has picked up three additional scripts for Reaper, while Aliens in America, sources tell the Reporter, is set to stay in production beyond its original 13-episode order in hopes of getting a full-season ride.

Well, most of that is awesome news. Carpoolers though...seriously?

Actually, should I be celebrating... only 3 additional scripts? That does not sound like a huge vote of confidence.

DSM was my favorite new show of the fall season...actually, that and Chuck (c'mon NBC, your turn!)

I'd certainly like to see Aliens in America continue. Now that I can see it on Sunday evenings, I'm going to be a dedicated fan. And I agree with Jayhawk that Chuck deserves a pickup. It's terrific.

I agree that Cavemen is improving. The first episode I didn't laugh one time, not even on the inside and it was painful. The last couple of weeks, I was shocked to find that I found it funny.

...well, done nothing yet about the improving Cavemen.

Sign of the coming Apocalypse?

While ordering more scripts is certainly hopeful, I'm afraid that that's not a guarantee against the itchy trigger fingers of net execs (Daybreak, The Nine, etc.)

I'm not very happy with DSM only getting three additional scripts- it's my favorite new show of the season and needs to get picked up. I don't understand why only 3 episodes but then again, I don't know that works.

I am glad that Reaper is getting some love from the CW despite the iffy ratings. I am frustrated that ABC has yet to greenlight a pick up for Dirty Sexy Money -- it has easily become of the favorites of mine this season.

I hope both Dirty Sexy Money and Reaper get full seasons... maybe they should try moving Supernatural back to the Tuesdays at 9 slot where it premiered and got REALLY high numbers for a CW show

DSM is definitely the best new show of the season. Hopefully it'll be back next season but ABC does love to cancel new shows.

Dude, seriously, 'Cavemen' rocks (pun intended). They really don't need to change a thing. The commercials that the show is based upon were always funny and the show continues the funny. Long live 'Cavemen'!

Dude, seriously, 'Cavemen' rocks

So there is proof that not everyone has evolved. ;)

Good for DSM and Reaper.

How does Carpoolers get an order for more scripts while Chuck hasn't? That defies the theory of evolution. Or maybe the person in charge at NBC is busy watching Carpoolers.

wildbill, I read somewhere that Chuck has gotten an order for more scripts (3, I believe).

DSM and Chuck are my two new faves of the season.

I'm curious as to what is going to happen to the shows with only thirteen, or maybe sixteen ordered episodes if the writers strike actually happens and is prolonged. Will they just disappear when their order runs out? Will they go into early reruns? Anyone know?
