ABC's in Love, Greenlights Rob Thomas' Cupid
Criminy, run and buy a lottery ticket, Rob!
On Thursday, just hours after news broke about the Veronica Mars creator possibly bringing Beverly Hills, 90210 back to life for the CW, ABC gave a green light to the pilot for Thomas' new version of Cupid, the romantic comedy he gave the tube back in the '90s.
Back then, Cupid starred Jeremy Piven as a man who believed it was his mission to help Zeus boost romantically challenged mortals. The update is being pegged as a "reinvention."
BecauseCupid has been in development since the fall, the Reporter says, it is in "first position" — that is, Thomas' priority — should both the comedy and the CW's new-0210 (if penned by him) get picked up.

I loved the original Cupid and Jeremy Piven was great in it. Too bad it didn't last very long. Hope the new version is as good and lasts longer.

I loved the original Cupid too and was saddened that it was yanked before it had a chance to build an audience.

No offense to Mr. Thomas but couldn't he come up with something more original than a retread of a show that didn't work the first time around? I'm just sayin'.
