Oprah's Big Give won't be returning to ABC's lineup this fall.

The show — where Oprah gives do-gooders lots of money to help strangers' dreams come true — was a favorite of the network, despite its ending after just one season.

"We loved that show and absolutely would have loved to bring it back," ABC entertainment president Steve McPherson said. "But it was something (Oprah) didn't want to do." — J.R. Whalen

I think this is a good thing. I loved the show however it was meant as a message of sorts to viewers. I think Oprah was trying to show that you can give to people in your own community even if you don't have lots of money and that giving is its own reward. Additionally, with the final payoff she showed that if you think of others and give that good things will come back to you. Had she decided to make a "franchise" out of the show I think it would have sent a totally different message.

That's right Oprah.
Leave them wanting more.
I know Oprah has a bizillion dollars.
And the time it cost her was a phone or text message every couple of days. But as long as this program taught other people how to give back I suppose it served a purpose.
I hope she has the winner of Oprah's Big Give on her show in the future to see how he is making out giving back the $500,000

I tried to watch the first show and wound up turning it off shortly after it began. For all the spiritual nature Oprah tries to make us believe she has, to pit contestants against one another in the name of doing good is just disgusting. Too much of Obama's lower vibrational cockiness has rubbed off on her.

Why doesn't she just fund the show? Does anyone really care if Oprah is actually on it for a few minutes each episode?

only oprah can have a train wreck of a show and abc says they loved it and it was oprahs decision to not bring it back.

1) as someone just said, the fighting contestants dragged down the show.

2) It was horrible. If it was anyone other then oprah the show would have been canceled 3 episodes in.

GOOD FOR ABC!!! TAKE THE OPRAH SHOW OFF TOO! SOMEONE NEEDS TO TAKE A STAND FOR JESUS!! OF COURSE OPRAH IS A NICE PERSON, OF COURSE, WERE SUPPOSED TO BE KIND TO HER BUT, DO WE WANT TO PROMOTE SOMEONE WHO KEEPS SAYING THAT ANY WAY IS A WAY TO HEAVEN? IS THIS A TRUE CHRISTIAN BELIEF? OF COURSE NOT! THE BIBLE SAYS IN JOHN 14:16 "I am the way, and the truth, and the life: no one cometh unto the Father, but by me". God sent his only son that who so ever believeth on him shall have everlasting life!
ABC...TAKE A STAND FOR GOD!! Don't allow someone to mislead people through your show! God will repay you someday!
