90210 Casting Complete: Rob Estes Heads for Hills

They wanted him, and they got him. As scooped by Ausiello earlier in the week, The CW's 90210 serial was hot to cast Rob Estes as the central family's patriarch/West Beverly High's new principal, and sure 'nuff, it happened.

The onetime Melrose Place resident will play Harry Mills, a WBH alumnus who moves his family from Kansas to Beverly Hills to take care of his alcoholic mother (Arrested Development's Jessica Walter). Lori Loughlin plays his wife, Shenae Grimes and Tristan Wilds their children.

What's your take? Too hunky to be a high school principal? Belding and Skinner never looked like this. — MWM

Belding and Skinner never looked like this.

:-D :-D I'm thinking that the school is going to suffer a rise in the number of rules infractions...that principal's office is about to get a lot of visitors.

Lori Loughlin and Rob Estes will make a very pretty TV couple, although I wish that Rob hadn't been able to take the job because of his role on WMC. I don't know that I'm any likelier to watch 90210 Redux, though, even with them in the cast.

Hmmm. Part of the appeal of Jim & Cindy Walsh was that they were "normal" parents, IMO. In fact, James Eckhouse reminded me of my dad quite a bit, in both his looks and his characteristics. Rob Estes is much more attractive. We'll see...

This will be train wreck TV at it's best. Especially when they reveal the Spelling Library or Gymnasium...

I was hoping for some Alex O'Laughlin seems how he is now unemployed, but hey....Rob Estes is pretty awesome to.

What happened to regular normal MA and Pop like Jim and Cindy Walsh? Why do they need the parent to be young looking and hot!!

*cries*

Although a seriously goodlooking person, Rob cannot act. At least he has just one facial expression: a bemused smirk.
I think acting needs to be in voice, posture and expressions.
Rob allways looks the same in whatever series he is playing.
But hay, it's not like he'll be doing Shakespeare...

YAAAAAAYYYYYYYYYY!!!!!

They need them to be hot because they want to pull in the generation of 90210 viewers. Those people don't just want to watch a bunch of pretty teens! I may actually give this show a shot now.

I am in the older generation of (the real) 90210 viewers.I was a year behind them in high school I believe. With this show I would have much rather seen normal parents. Yes both Lori and Rob are the right age to have kids in high school, I just wish they were more "down to earthy" Jim and Cindy" types.

Unless I've missed something and it's been canceled...what about his role on Women's Murder Club?

I doubt his acting has improved since MP.
