24's New Lady President Has Been Cherry-picked

Fox's 24 might not know exactly what story they are spinning this coming season — what with the recent and abrupt scrapping of plans to film in Africa (see the Ausiello Report) — but at the very least they know who will be in charge. Seeing as how Geena Davis might be otherwise occupied with Criminal Minds, Cherry Jones has been appointed president, representing the first major casting for Season 7.

Jones, 51, has appeared in such recent films as Ocean's Twelve, The Village and Signs. Also of note, she became the first openly lesbian actress to win a Tony award (for The Heiress) when she thanked her longtime partner during her 1995 acceptance speech.

Well her partner is the beautiful, gorgeus, stunning Sarah Paulson of the late great "Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip". If there is a God, 24 will find a part for her too.

Cherry Jones is an amazing actress and will be a huge asset for 24. Hopefully she's not a long-lost Palmer half sister!

Honestly, I don't care who's in it. I mean, last Season's cast was fantastic. The cast was not the problem, it was the story. So, hopefully they come up with one fast. One that involves no members of Jack's family (daughter, dad, brother, nephew, wife, whatever, his family have always been the weakest element of 24).

I agree with rikerdonegal, the story is what really matters, and hopefully they'll refrain from involving Jack's family again, seeing what a big mistake it was this past season (James Cromwell as father - horrible).

I had absolutely no idea Sarah Paulson was a lesbian! Couldn't she find a partner her age?

I never said she didn't win a second Tony, for Doubt. But the speech in question was for her first win (The Heiress).

Boy, that $425 came and went, huh?

Anyone would be better than Geena Davis and her political baggage.

Geena would have been great. Cherry will be great. I had to go find a picture to remember her and now I do. They are on IMDb - please TVG - get one on her page.
