Rumor Patrol: 24 Is Not Subtracting Hours from Day 7

Perhaps something was lost in translation...? In an interview with Premiere.com, Scotsman Robert Carlyle stated that the two hours covered by 24's November prequel movie will be applied against Season 7's episode count. "This is two hours in real time," he said, "and there'll then be 22 episodes."

I caught wind of that Q&A via TVTattle.com and Carlyle's take didn't seem kosher, so I checked with Fox and confirmed that Day 7 indeed will be the usual 24 episodes/hours, wholly supplementary to the TV-movie.

Carlyle also suggested that the final moments of the prequel will feed right into the opening scenes of Season 7, yet again, that is not exactly the case. The prequel itself picks up four years after the events of Day 6 — effectively planting Jack Bauer in the year 2017, if you have been keeping tabs — and then another few on-screen months will pass between the movie's sure-to-be-thrilling climax and Jack's appearance before Congress. — Matt Mitovich

At the rate they are fast forwarding each season, Jack will be ready for retirement soon!

I was going to say -- isn't Jack getting up there by now? Assuming he was in his late thirties or early forties in the first season, and assuming that took place in the year it was made ('01), he's aged like...16 years by now. Eh, doesn't bother me, but it's amusing.

November and January can not get here fast enough for me. I just re-watched Season 5 over the past couple of weeks and it made me miss Jack and the gang all that much more.

Is Tony still slated to be the "bad guy" now that Jon Voight has signed on? I want him to be on Jack's team again! And the Silver Fox, Bill Buchanan better be there too! And Aaron...(man there is a lot of eye candy for the ladies on this show)!

Wow, there's been 3-4 years in TV time between Jack's 'days,' so I agree that he's gonna be right up there with Harrison Ford-- saving the world with his Jack-pack and his walker.

Hope you're taking your Geritol, Jack!!

If you watched the 24 mini episodes that aired online after last season and are on the Season 6 set, Jack says he was born in 1966, which is the same year Kiefer was born.

If season 7 does take place in 2017. Jack would be 51 years old.

BTW, I'm glad the 22 episode report was bogus. I'll only believe it if it comes from Howard Gordon or FOX's mouth.

Sorry to burst any bubbles, but Season 7 actually takes place in 2015, not 2017. Evidence on the show points to different years, and if you just figure that their election years do not coincide with our normal election years, the evidence all matches.

Season 1- March 2002 (Election Year)
Season 2- September 2003
Season 3- August or September 2006 (Election Year)
Season 4 Prequel Part 1- November or December 2006
Season 4 Prequel Part 2- November or December 2007
Season 4 Prequel Part 3- February or March 2008
Season 4- February or March 2008
Season 5 Prequel- February or March 2009
Season 5- August 2009
Season 6 Prequel- January 2010 (Election Year)
Season 6- April 2011
Season 6 Debrief- April 2011
Season 7 Prequel- December 2014 (Election Year)
Season 7- Early 2015

Is it true someone from ABC's Daytime "General Hospital" might be joining the cast of 24?? Has anyone else heard this rumor?? I read possibly Jax (Ingo) or Jason (Steve Burton). We must wish the best for our Daytime favorites!!

where can i contact fox to tell them that sept 1st falls on labor day. if we can convince them to move up prison break's season 4 premiere date to sept 8th. doesn't fox know about this that people go out on legal hollidays? they attempted to show the last 2 episodes of their now defunct series "drive" on the 4th of july last year, but aborted at the last minute. and stuck them online instead. they should've done that with those final 2 episodes of a silly sitcom ("LOOP")instead of a more deserving show ("DRIVE")that never had a chance let alone a second chance.

Haven't you discovered TV time is way faster than "real" time? Look at 90210 when it was on. Weren't those actors really in their 40s playing high schoolers? And how about daytime soaps? Who has a baby one year and the next they are in college and the next they are having their own kid?
